  8. Excellent post! Great pics! Even though there is nothing better than smallmouth, having a huge pike blast your bait is fun too! Jet boating looks challenging!!!!
  9. Great advice guys, thanks... exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for! edited to add this video, just found it... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPage?storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&template=video.cfm&cat=Fishing&subCatID=26&connectionSpeed=hd&videoID=423&startRow=0&videoType=prodcutdemo&option=2&cmid=OLPHVIDEO_423_HD
  10. Been experimenting with a treble hook for a buzzbait trailer hook with good success. I clip off the bottom facing hook with snips and seems to work well on the short strikers. A couple of years ago I tried the Strike King Spinnerbait and buzzbait Tour Grade trailer hooks with the slightly harder black plastic covering over the hook. These trailers don't allow the trailer hook to dangle free, they kind of keep the hook stiff and parallel to the main hook...the result was it was exremely weedless but couldnt get a fish in the boat. I'm attaching a picture of the Strike Kings that I can't get to work very well. I've also been using braid for the buzzers and I have to tell myself to wait a little longer before setting the hook with braid (Thanks RPS) Maybe I'm doing something wrong...my hook up rate was about 60-70 %, not good enough. Any trailer hook suggestions and or techniques suggestions would be appreciated. Went back to the regular tralier hook from Gamakatsu for a single hook for most applications or a treble for more open water buzzing. Forgive me for being so technical but I've got a good wine buzz going on now...Sunday mornin comin down!!
  11. Agreed, amazing how someone has never been able to improve the Shimano design for baitcasters. Just works great.
  12. You knew his luck would run out. Kind of like Teflon Don.

I've noticed over the years that man is destined to believe in something, call it mojo, superstition, God or something...must be in the DNA
  18. Exactly, it was exciting to me to see the seasonal movement of the smallmouth more than anything. One tagged fish I caught last year traveled around 40 miles or more. I've always hated to see people take pot shots at something (not that you have Laker67) without offering up any ideas themselves. Not that they're perfect but with all the crap coming from all the special interests in this state, The MDC has done a good job in my book.
  19. Even though it's a heavyish crank bait and a long rod IMO it all points to the line! Get a hybrid, screw straight fluorocarbon
  20. It's an awesome sight to see bigger fish that do not have old gig marks...those fish are truly beautiful and seem to not have any hook marks either. A testament to low fishing pressure.
  21. I tie the braid directly to the buzz bait, no swivel no leader. WTD baits I always use a split ring to give it better action. Even though I think mono is easier to operate in a bait caster, I have lately been throwing all my WTD baits with braid, I think it gives it better action plus added hookset power for longer casts that you sometimes need in clear water.
  22. LOL No kidding, sick of mama grizzlys and honey badgers
  23. Well, the spots that are usually good on that stretch may not have been good now. 28 bridge hole (cottonmouth eddy)? Pin Piney confluence, Boiling spring hole. Theres a 1/2 mile riffle below the spring and before Countryview acres (Cardens) that should have been the ticket if you needed swift water. Great pics!
