Costco used to have excellent steaks, they’ve made 2 mistakes recently IMO.
1. They used to cut the caps off the ribeyes and tie them together with string which makes an excellent Cap steak, but the leftover meat on the ribeye after the cap was cut off was just a plain, non marbled crappy steak that that tried to sell as ribeyes. Didn’t work well.
2. The general quality of steaks has gone way downhill in the last 5 years. The taste is so bland. Someone told me it’s because they buy old milk cows now….cant prove it but I will say the steaks there in general have gotten pretty bad.
I think I’m gonna stick with Sam’s…seem to be better or maybe just buy my steaks at Dierbergs or a local butcher.
