  1. "This one wuddent gittin off, this one has the hook buried" Ya Think! Fishing minnows does that
  2. 2 ft visibilty is perfect for a crank
  3. I understand Old Plug, But I agree with Wrench's sentiment, in that the highly skilled blue collar trades are retiring by the thousands and not being replaced. There was a push (and rightly so) that everyone must attend college. Trade schools were for the low class kids. Now you can't even find a good machinist anymore. I think Google has even caught on a little bit. They started to hire people who are great in their field, regardless of their impressive degree. I recently helped my wife with her Masters classes (MBA). Geez, it was so lame I can't believe it.
  4. Way to go Alex! Nice fish....that's a heck of a bag
  5. I think most people posting on this thread could have their money taken from them tomorrow and figure out a way to be happy. But I'm worried about our future generation.....there's no app for poverty
  6. X2 on the Yozuri as far as braid goes...I haven't figured out the secret to make it work all day on a casting reel without issues, I'm sure some have. That's why I just go with Yozuri on everything but topwater. As far as the no stretch goes, I want a little stretch. I'm not fishing heavy weeds usually, or frogs in Lilly pads. Something's gotta give, or you might straighten a hook or tear it out of the fishes mouth.
  7. I also make Hummus ? but I lose money on the craws
  8. God Bless a young beautiful lady that knows how to fish!!
  9. Huddle bugs are very good, I just wanted a little more movement in the claws. Right now I can't mass produce them, so they're not for sale. It takes too long to make them for the amount of money I'd get, and I'm too tired after work to warm up the injectors and start the process. There's also the ventilation issue. Anyway, until I find a way to hire the right people, I can't make it happen.

    What's Cooking?

Those fries sound and look amazing! And what kind of morsels are are on the bun? Now for the Heinz ketchup! LOL
  11. He takes his computer with him in the canoe, it's right between his ears! ?
  12. Remember when you tried to ice skate for the first time? That's what I feel like in a solo canoe. I feel like I'm in a constant state of falling. Couple that with the fact that you're trying to cast to the perfect spot, and you're conscience keeps telling you "forget casting dude, you're just trying to remain above water". i have to agree with wrench on the weight issue. The weight of the canoe or kayak means little to me if I can't even feel comfortable fishing out of it. If you go to the gym, before you even start adding weight, the bar already weighs 45 lbs. big deal. It's not like you're carrying it the whole way down the river. I completely understand the lack of storage and maneuverability you get with a kayak. But only 3 rods is a sacrifice that I can live with, Because I usually don't do an over night float.
  13. I think the middle and lower stretches on the Meramec weren't that good this year because of all the rain kept things messed up. But up by the Huzzah it was a much better river I'm sure.
  14. I think you pretty much raised the bar to an unreachable level for trip reports. Very very nice! It looks like you and Mrs. Billthead are best friends, it radiates through the pictures! thank you so much for posting!

    What's Cooking?

My brothers daughter turned 17 today, great chicken coming!!
  19. Very close, no gates, but my boat was in my driveway being worked on for a couple of days, and the director of the subdivision committee called and kindly informed me that he had received "several" calls about my boat in the driveway. Go figure
  20. My boat is in storage, as I'm storing it, I take the batteries out and bring them home so I can charge them up for the next trip.

  22. I've always heard storing a battery on concrete is not good for the battery....is this true? Or an old wive's tale?
  23. I bet there was a bunch of people on the DC beltway that didn't sleep good last night! :)
