Bill since you asked for input I'll give it. $1500 per person per week. I'll tell you why I will say that price for me. One is I am scared of big animals (except horses). Two is I am scared of little airplanes, ok actually I am scared of little airplanes and sudden impacts with the ground. Although I am not in the poor house I don't have a great deal of discretionary money after I pay bills and send my wife and son to Europe each year to see her family. Consequently It would have to be the probably non-profitable price I stated before I might have the pro's outweigh the cons (bears and bush-pilots). Last year you had posted a special that was VERY tempting. So tempting that I asked my wife if she would be ok with me going. Unfortunately I still couldn't justify it, I don't know maybe I am too cheap for my own good and it is definately not something for everybody. Maybe one day money and courage will be enough to make a go for it. Hope it helps....

Type in King Salmon, AK. Naknek River runs thru KS NE to Naknek Lake. Follow the only road past Pike Lake (marked) to the end of the road and that's Lake Camp Access. The camp where we operate out of is just downstream less than 1/2 mile from the access. The image isn't the best on GE but you get the idea of the river, lake and surroundings.

Looks Awesome! What are all those smaller lakes like, that dot the countryside everywhere ? are they mostly shallow sandy holes, or deep crater type lakes ? What's in them?

Crystal creek lodge sure looks like a prime location ! What is the name of that extremely crooked river that feeds in there ? That's where I wanna be !!!

The extremely crooked creek that feeds in across from Crystal Creek Lodge is Big Creek. That is where most of the Kings are found and I think Phil has a video of boating up that little creek in a jet boat. Lots of exciting bends and turns there. You can catch greyling, dolly varden, chum, pinks, sockeye, kings, rainbows and probably even silvers up Big Creek.

Here is Crystal Creeks rates

6 days guided activities

7 nights accommodations

$7,850 June/July $8,350 August/September

Bill, for me and the current economy, about $2600. + the cost of getting up there would be all I could handle. My two cents worth.

Ok I'll bite. I've always wanted to to Alaska - 30+ years anyway. But even though I make what I consider a very good living and the recession has not affected me much (yet) I also have a son in college. And my wife and I are trying to pay off our house before our 2nd son starts college in 4 years.

For me $2500 for 2 (possibly 3000) would be what I could afford. Probably not a realistic # I know. That's about what we'll have available for a planned drive in trip out west this summer.

Regardless I know I'll get there someday. Once our house is paid off in a few short years we'll be in much better shape for such things.

I would have to say that this trip would be worth about 3000/person.

I know that I can rent a house for the week for 1,500 split 5 ways 300/for the week. It has running water.

I would fly out 4 days guided price that I have found is around 500/person but they range from 300-500/person. Depends on where you want to go. Unless the fishing is great where we are which we would probably fish the river system 1- 2 days any way.

Meals in town would avg. about 20/person per meal so 40 Dollars a day. 5 days 200 dollars for food.

As you can see there is wide range for price just in the fly out top end for total Price of trip is 3,000 per person and low end could be as low as 2,000.

Good luck and Merry Christmas

$300 for lodging

$2000 for 4 flyouts

$200 for meals

$2500 total

You still need rental car to get to town for meals if house is not located in town, or to get to the float plane charters

You still need to rent a boat for fishing the river system a couple of days.

And with the way you like to have a few evening cocktails.....could get real expensive......

Oh yeah, Dont forget the $39.00 can of pepper spray :o:lol:

I think I'd go with an all-inclusive package for around $4,000.

This is interesting to read for me being new to fly fishing in general. For me this is something I would consider a dream and not reality for now. For those who are seasoned fly guys this sounds very attractive although with the uncertainty of our present economy most people are cutting out the perks in their life unless $$$$ is not an issue. Most likely why the many views and lack of responses.

I would guess the folks in Alaska are feeling the affects also and are willing to make a few deals as well, regardless it's going to be tough for most. Not sure if this is what you cared to hear but coming from someone totally new to this I couldn't put a $$$ value on this and really wouldn't even consider the trip.

Hope I am not sounding negative, just being honest from my standpoint.
