ness Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I just noticed the guy has a whistle in his mouth. I guess that was to draw attention to himself? Yeah, I know they float good. I honestly haven't tried them for a couple reasons. First, I typically fish pretty skinny water, so I don't want to lob a kickball out there. Second, I don't like things that I have to wrap my leader around -- cause it kinks it up. As for the system the guy is advocating -- I think it has merit for really deep fishing situations. I like to be able to adjust my indicators, and this seems to make that a hassle. But, I'm noodlin' it over. I went over to the craft store yesterday, and picked up some stuff. I'm gonna go down to the lab and try to cook up something that meets my needs. I hate spending a buck-plus for indicators that either sink, break, get tangled up, scare fish, whatever. John

Brian Wise Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 First, I typically fish pretty skinny water, so I don't want to lob a kickball out there. lob a kickball...you gotta love that stuff! I'll be honest, I tend to fish the pink ones--and I am confortable with that. Brian My Youtube Channel

Ham Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Thanks for the link. I'll have to give that a try. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
flyfishmaster Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Wow, I thought I deleted all my photos. Oh well. Anyway... I thought the demo was neat, but since I move a lot in the depth of tte water I fish, I think I would be going through way too much tippet changing the depths of the flies. I attached my Thingamabobber to my leader via a oral rubber band. the same ones used for braces. Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!

flyfishmaster Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Max, Here is a previous OAF link regarding the Thingamabobber. B-Ray has a great illistration on how it is done. Click here for Previous Post! later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
ness Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Flyfishmaster -- thanks for that link to the earlier article. That's an interesting approach, and solves the problem of repositioning the indicator. I've got two kids in braces -- it's about time I got something out of it. John
