snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Sorry, I've been having internet service provider problems for a couple days. I'm not sure this will get posted before it times out. We went down Thursday Dec 30th. Weather was perfect, high around 60 and overcast. Water was very low and the place was busy. We started at the cable with no luck. Went to the drop below the island and caught em pretty good there for a while. Worked our way down to the river and caught fish almost everywhere. We mainly used green scuds and swung some soft hackles a bit. We caught a lot of fish with the biggest around 15 inches. I was suprised to see so many people bait fishing right in the open. Dough bait and power bait. I don't think they know the regs or they clearly don't care. They didn't try and hide it at all. Oh, they weren't charging the parking fee either. Great day trip and I'll try and go down again soon. SIO3
Kayser Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I didn't think they charged anything to park or fish in the winter (other than state license/stamp). That's why I fish there in the winter- close to Rolla and free. Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.

Rob A daily parking permit was required in years past. 2 3 4 bucks, I can't recall, but it was part of fishing their park in the winter time.
fishinwrench Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 While I've got you on the line, my Mercury 200 Opti Sport Jet is about two years old and still running perfect. I would think that it's about time for a little routine maintenance. I'm in the St Louis area; do you know anyone that you would recommend? Sadly all I hear from my St.Louis area customers is that "they are ALL crooked and strictly out to sell new ones up there". While I'm sure that is not entirely true I'd be afraid to recommend any specific shop unless I've worked with them personally...which I haven't. Your best bet is probably to rely on the dealer that you bought the rig from for routine maintanance and tune-up's.
