Does LP not have a Stream Team assigned to it ? If not it sounds like it could use one.

Let the ol'gal run off a Stream Team group and maybe someone with a badge will set her straight. Afterwards maybe she'd like to join.

Okay I can't stand it anymore.

What the he!! is Newburg cong?

Go ahead, call me stupid.

The hamlet of Newburg lies on the shores of the lower Little Piney. Not dissimilar to the Viet Cong, the Newburg Cong, that is, the indigenous people of the area, have a fond disregard for littering. Particularly at the numerous access points up and down the river. Vida Slab and Milldam Hollow are their favorite haunts. Grotto Bridge and the bridge in town get hit pretty regularly by the NC as well.

If it's any consolation, fishing hasn't been that good recently. Hit the Current this weekend, and it was low, clear, and painfully slow, only managed 20 fish all day. The LP hasn't been fishing well, and I've been letting the fish rest in Mill and Spring Creeks until we can get some decent rain to bring the flow back to where it should be.

It sucks about getting run off the creek, but you can park under the 63 bridge and walk down, or park at the gate and walk in (from what I've heard). There are also multiple bridges on the LP (gravel roads) that you can access the stream from, I would just be careful as to where you park, as some people feel that is trespassing. Found that out at Spring Creek- met a landowner while trying to find out where I could legally access the place. Nice guy, but he had leased the land and access was restricted on his portion of the creek. It's better to look around and ask permission first if you can, the people are normally pretty nice if they see you aren't a littering a**hole. On a side note, Meramec Springs fishes pretty well this time of year, and isn't that far off of 44, if you ever need a back-up plan. I hear Blue Springs Creek south of Bourbon is fun as well, but I've never fished it. Hope you can find a decent backup option next time out.

Thanks for the info, Rob and others.

I stopped by Blue Springs a few weeks ago and got 'run' off of there as well - not by a landowner but by a hunter nearby (very nearby) shooting in my direction. I then went to Lil Piney and had a terrific day. I'd like to go back to BS again some day though. I also want to try Mill and Spring as my preferences tend to lie with the smaller, wilder streams than with the larger stocked places (generally speaking, I can have a good time as long as there's water).

I fish at Vida Slab quite a lot at the times of the year when the fishing is good down there (not now). I have not really been given much trouble by landowners, although in the area above the access a few have sorta looked at me like they didn't want me there-being unfriendly and such and not responding when I said hello. But no real trouble. But I entered it from a public roadway, I think it's a navigable stream (and frankly I'm not very worried about it even if it isn't, I'm not causing any trouble and I'm releasing the fish) and I will continue to fish at Vida Slab (and be friendly to the landowners and pick up whatever trash I see along the stream)in the future no matter what any landowner says to me, unless I am threatened with a weapon, in which case I will report them to the county sheriff.

That's just how I see it.

P.S. You can still access the creek at Lane Spring. It just requires a short walk from the gate-and the fishing is far better in that area this time of year anyway.

Different story in some parts of late spring/early summer and again in fall, when it it can be very good down around Vida.
