I will observe a moment of silence for Keith Olbermann by staying out of this one. The rest of you have fun banging your heads against the bricks.

Science and reason cannot penetrate them. Good night and good luck.

Are those the scientist from East Anglia? The ones that lost a bunch of data and replaced it with made up data?

Moment of silence temporarily broken...

You're gonna have to do better than that, Wayne. That's such a tired, old argument to use against the infinite amount of legitimate data and fact provided by the vast majority of the scientific community. A few bad apples don't always spoil the bunch.

Moment of silence resumed...smile.gif

Again, that isn't what happened, that's what Rush and Sean told you happened.

If we want to talk about folks who disseminate made-up information to further their own agenda, those two folks have pretty much cornered the market. If we want to have a discussion on global warming science, we ought to base it in reality. Just sayin'.

Eric, OB, I've never said I didn't believe the planet isn't warming. It has been doing so for millions of years, that we know, what we don't know is the length of thousands of cycles or the severity. In our short recorded history we've had an extreme of cold, The Little Ice Age, and many scientist have theorized it was caused by a rapid global warming that shut down the Atlantic Conveyor.

It doesn't sound like the university needed Rush's help or Sean's.

The UK Telegraph.

I know when I read someone's opinion on this forum and it is not my opinion I don't immediately assume they are stupid and watch Olbermann, Madow or CNN or even the goul, Mathews . I just chuckle to myself and go on with my life.It must be a trite, sad existance to assume everyone who disagrees with you is stupid and mis-informed.For someone to assume that I don't care about the enviroment and I willingly allow myself to pollute or somehow purposely screw up the enviroment, well thats the biggest load of sh*t I've ever heard.I defy anyone here to challenge and research what I do for the Meramec and Big Rivers.I have devoted a lot of time and money to trying to clean up St.Louis County and rivers.Do I burn fossil fuels???? hell yes!!! I'm not a hypocrite like some on this forum.

What happens if the arctic ice dramaticly increases this September over years past???

Yeah, I ain't gonna beat my head against the wall any more on this one. Same tired arguments, easily refuted if you will just lay off the uninformed guesses and the Rushbeckian talking points and take a few hours to read the science. Plenty of it. Google it. Read BOTH sides. Read what both sides are saying about the East Anglia stuff. Read what both sides are saying about the data and the evidence. THEN make your own decisions. But when you parrot the same old arguments against (and on the other side, some arguments for) that have been refuted effectively, it tells me you're only listening to one side.

There ARE a few reputable scientists who think it isn't human induced, or at least question the degree to which it's human induced. And they have a few good arguments. Find those, and talk about them, and I'll listen.

And please, please, get off the kick of calling others hypocrites because they use fossil fuels. We all do. We all HAVE to. The solution is not for everybody to just stop using fossil fuels, the solution is for governments and industries and entrepreneurs and societies to come up with viable alternatives. And that takes an agreement among the members of those societies that finding alternatives has a high priority. Meanwhile, limiting use of fossil fuels through conservation measures and better use of existing alternative technologies is the way to go, but no sane person is expecting nor demanding that everybody just stop using fossil fuels and suffer. That's a Rushbeckian talking point.

...That's a Rushbeckian talking point.

And when I hear them I can only conclude ignorance.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
