Bill Babler Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 As of today, I don't believe there is a launch ranp open on the Rock. I have heard that Ahoys might be open, but that is one steep cookie. If its open great. Just all are Iced in. Have not seen a boat from Clevenger to Long Creek, in 7 days. Most I can ever remember. Saturday I would guess is a wash, but I believe, Sunday or Monday will be ok. May even be good by late afternoon on Saturday. Need it to be good as I have several trips next week, if I can get the tub in the water. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 12, 2011 Root Admin Posted February 12, 2011 Talk to a corp guy who's been out of town this week. He heard that they put in at Indian Point today with some trouble. State Park should be clear- they blade it. Thought Kim City ramp would be ok since it's not real steep and it faces south. Other ramps- it did hit 40 today so I bet they might be icy in the am but good the rest of the day.
Donna G Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I'm still working on how to get the boat back on the trailer, but I'm pretty sure it involves a high-speed run at the ramp and the proper launch angle? Actually saw one on the ramp today. Told Champ188 "I see a boat on the ramp." He didn't pay much attention to that until I said, "No, ON the ramp." Fortunately there was some equipment nearby with forks and straps and helping hands. They had it back on the trailer in no time. Might be a little worse for wear, but they went ahead and launched and headed out like everything was fine. I forgot that I was on the taney a week ago and the bunks of my trailer were frozen solid. Fortunately very little damage was incurred. We ended up having a solid day of fishing. 4 keeps in 3 hrs. One went 5lbs. All on a grub. 3 were on swiming a grub and one was on jiggin a grub. None the less, indian point ramp is in great shape exept for the fact there is a little bit of my fiberglass on it and some of my skag.
Gone Fishing Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Man Jeremy, sounds like you got off easy. I was wondering what kind of banks you were throwing the grub on.
denjac Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I have a phobia about my boat falling off the trailer. I always unhook when the boat is in the water . Not preaching, its my stupid phobia. And I guess too that 90% I am launching by myself. Sorry Jeremy, bet you were sick. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. Rounded off secondary points that had some chop on them. I really wish we could have got an earlier start in the day, I think it would have been a really good day. We caught fish anywhere from the 5-15' range, pretty shallow.

Takes a second extra, but I bet it is a bunch faster than turning to straps. Guess I have more frequently frozen the boat to the trailer, have needed to let it set backed in to thaw enough to float off the bunks. Golf claps all around to anyone who went out. Still have a big drift in front of the boat door here in KS. Working on some balsa wake baits and redfin tweaks for warmer times. Pouring grub heads while I wait for my sealers, epoxies, etc to cure on the homemades.
