TroutRinger Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 So my dad owes me a 21st birthday trip and said some guys from work just got back from the North Fork and loved it, and he has already found a cabin to stay at and wants to get us a guided fishing trip. Who would guys recommend? My dad is not a good fisherman and is basically going just to be with me. I have always loved trout fishing but am only just getting back into fly fishing so my skills are ok at best. I would like a guide who will do some spin fishing but also one who could teach me a thing or two about fly fishing. We were planning on going for a couple days during springbreak which is March 5-13 or mid-may to early june. "Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy." snagged in outlet 3 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Wait a minute, you're a ringer.... You shouldn't need a guide. Kidding I remember Lilley doing this trip and sounds awesome. Call these guys for sure. http://www.longboatoutfitters.com/ Pete
duckydoty Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 River of Life-Brian Wise. Knows the river better than anyone else I've ever fished with over there. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Gavin Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Brian Wise & Kyle Kosovich are both very good guides...you will have a great time with either of them.
TroutRinger Posted February 23, 2011 Author Posted February 23, 2011 I guess I should change my name to Trout-PARK-Ringer cause I kill em there. Beyond Taney, I don't have much experience in big water. I guess I should mention I am partial to the tackle included packages. snagged in outlet 3 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Yeah Gmuddy. His comment makes me think he might be cornfusing The North Fork of The White with the Norfork tailwater. Two different places Ringer. SIO3

2sheds Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 The North Fork of the White River is a real treasure. Beautiful river - wild and peaceful. Note that the rainbow trout (habitat = Rainbow Springs to Patrick Bridge) are wild and wary. Using a guide the first time through can greatly improve your understanding and success rate. I wish I was mature enough on my 21st to consider a guided trip. Three great resources for NFOW: Brian Wise at RiverOfLife - http://www.riveroflifefarm.com Kyle Kosovich at Longboat Outfitters - http://longboatoutfitters.com (PS - Kyle's website also has some good info concerning how to get the most out of your guided adventure.)
