hoglaw Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Not sure how many folks check this forum, but Mike Anderson has returned home to the University of Arkansas. Not sure that he's the end-all be-all of basketball coaches, but his return here is long overdue and our program is in dire need of rehabilitation. I hope he's the right man for the job...he's certainly the fan favorite and always received a standing ovation whenever the Tigers came here. We now have the best football and baseball coaches in the country, bar none. We have some of the best facilities for football, and basketball, and the best baseball stadium and fan base in the country. Basketball looks to be on the rise with the return of Mike and a phenomenal recruiting class including a stud from St. Louis. It's a good time to be a Razorback fan.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 No dissespect to you, but You can have him. "Anderson's teams went 23-11 and finished 5th in the conference in both of his final two seasons with Missouri. The Tigers made the NCAA tournament both years but fell out in the first weekend both times. 8-8 in Big 12 play" How does this record equate to 2.2 million or whatever he's getting? SIO3
Bird Watcher Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 He's not Nolan, but I think he will be an improvement.
stlfisher Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I was really dissappointed with Missouri's peformance this year. I am kind of eh on Anderson and his system. I can't believe all the horrible shots Mizzou took this year. That being said I do think he is a stand up guy and runs a clean program the right way.
Trout Commander Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Good riddance, I say. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Smalliebigs Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I agree with Pete, You can have him....his teams play some of the weakest deffense in the NCAA. They press for the first 20feet of the court and give up and NEVER rebound. You have to have the right athletes to run his system who are willing to press the entire game and REBOUND. The Missouri teams were unwilling to do this, other than one year. His system is wack....if the other team has decent point gaurd with teamates who can handle the rock a little bit, his teams get blown out.

What has always irked me is his unwillingness to adapt his system to fit the players he has and/or his lack of ability to recruit players to fit his system. mrgungho Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Awesome..we'll take him for sure...a former alum that played on the team that brought the only National Championship to U of A ever... uh, winning, duh! Well take 23-11 over 18-13 any ole year on the schedule. This guy is made in the mold of Richardson and will be coming home to Fayetteville to win! (on a side note...I would have been happy with Cuanzo as well) "Some go to church and think about fishing, others go fishing and think about God."

Good luck to the Razorbacks with that style play in the SEC.Mike Anderson is darn lucky the former coach of AR recruited some good players for 2012.Anderson's style of play is a kin to the spread offense in football.....it does you no good at the pro level....if you can't gaurd a player and man up in the NBA you will get exposed real fast. If you run the spread offense in college and can't take the ball from under center, you will have a much larger learning curve in the NFL. Time will only tell if Mike Anderson can get the Razorbacks to produce the alleged "40 minutes of hell" he said Mizzou would put on teams.I'll believe it when I see it.

He might be a better fit it a "football conference" 1-9 against Kansas is just plain horrible. On an unrelated note: does it matter how many years a program and a coach ink a deal on when they just leave 4 years early to go to a different school?
