I too noticed some people on this old thread that I really miss.  I know at least one of them passed on, and hope the others just lost interest for one reason or another.

I sometimes wonder whether it's some kind of flaw in me that, when I find a message board that I like, I'm probably going to be participating on it "forever".  I've been a member of this one since December of 2005...into my 11th year on it now, and I'm still just as interested in participating as I ever was.  I well remember this thread when it came out because I was so surprised that Mitch would post what he did when my sense of Phil was that his personal politics were center right but that he hadn't shown any kind of bias on here.  I remember that I first got know Mitch a bit on here before we ever spent time in a boat together, and was a bit turned off by his politics.  I've since found that, while conservative in many ways while I'm liberal in many ways, he's a very reasonable and thoughtful man whose opinions I respect on just about every issue, not to mention that I have a lot better understanding of where he's coming from on some of them.  And, like most reasonable people, neither of us strictly toe the liberal or conservative line.  The people whose opinions I DON'T respect are those who are on one side of every issue, seemingly just because they identify themselves as liberal or conservative.  It's like they are on a team and they can't have any opinion that goes against the prescribed opinion of "their" team.  Or even more likely, they can't possibly agree with anything the other "team" believes because, well, it's the other team, not their team.

And about that grammar thing back in the middle of the thread...it's/its, you're/your, there/they're/their...

Your wrong, you're lack of education is showing, its "stoopudist", that's it's correct spelling.  They're is always somebody who wants to let you know that their superior to you in there knowledge of grammar.

It took two sentences, but I got them all in and all wrong!

Thanks Al,

I regret this thread was ever started. It was a huge mistake on my part. I was new to the forum, and had actually never been in a forum before and it was my first. I kind of started out half cocked with little information.  We all need forgiveness from time to time. The more I know Phil, the more I love the man!

As far as the politics, I absolutely have many friends who don't think like me, but we still get along great!

It's pretty sad that being called an idiot over an internet forum has upset you this badly. Enough to pull up a 5 year old thread. I'd place a hefty bet that you've been called much worse in person. Time to move one!

Not upset in the least.

It was the irony and hypocrisy that I found entertaining. Just wanted to share. I didn't figure that someone of your elevated stature would comprehend it. And I wanted the 5 of you to get your giggles in.
