But wait, I am so confused, the USACOE Table Rock Lake Manager told the media & it was published that the USACOE was going to maintain the current ( approx 20,000 CFS ) discharge rate till Table Rock reached a level of 920. Now a rumor surfaces that they are going to cut back & possibly even hold the level steady @ above 920. I find it hard to believe that they would tell us one thing & then go & do something else. No they would not do that, so it comes down to either they as usual are not even close to accurate with their projections, or they need to find someone who knows what they are talking about & put them in that position. But worry not we have a 44.2 million dollar ( it's ours our taxes & fees paid for it ) auxillary spill-way just sitting there waiting for a catastrophic flood to occur so we can use it. Oh wait, once again, told one thing ( we must have this so we can use it ) do another as in don't use it. I do have to admit, maybe they forgot it was there or they just can't see it through all the weeds that have grown up around it. Let me say this about that, " To HELL WITH BRANSON LANDING " show me the button, I'LL PUSH IT !!!!!!!

All I'm saying is that there are people who think they can do a better job than the USACE's current people, I have provided them the link so they can apply to fix all of the worlds problems.

The other point to be made is this - The USACE operates by what has happened, not what is forecast. I don't think that there is a fisherman on this board who hasn't cussed at the weatherman a time or two. What would we be saying if the week before all this rain, they dropped the lake 4 or 5 feet and we only got a trace of rain? The weathermen don't bat 100%. I can think of more than one time I have had to shovel 6" of "partly cloudy" off my driveway.

Not saying they don't make mistakes, Greg. I too thought how the heck they were going to drop the lake to 920 but I was too busy with dry wall, painting and laying carpet to think about it too much. I did think- oh man... flood gates for a month!! Great fishing!!!!

In looking at the lake level chart, it looks like the gates are close. Taney's level dropped to 710 from 713.

I'm gone for a few days now... out of web-range so I guess you can talk about this without me...

And whats wrong with high water ? I like it high vs low. The lake does what its supposed to do, hold water and then let it out .

**SIGH**, I normally don't post much on here and I especially do my best not to get into some of the banter that goes on on this site. I find most of it quite entertaining, however, I think I will stir the pot just a little....

I see many posts on the Corps did this wrong, didn't plan for that, they should have ____________, whatever. I don't always agree nor understand what or why the USACE does what they do, but then again, I am not an engineer. I have my job, which I am very good at. I don't try to be a hair dresser, fire fighter, banker, or engineer. I guess the point is, I am very happy that I have numerous lakes surrounding me that I can go fishing at. I pay $30 a year and I can launch my boat at any USACE ramp as many times as I want. This flood could have been much more of a disaster than what it already is. I am sure that not everything was done in the most perfect manner and some mistakes were made, but how many lives were saved? I feel badly for those who lost property in this mess, but that is a risk of living in a flood plain. I guess if the Corps are really such a bunch of idiots, maybe we should petition our Congresspeople to have the public use areas closed and put up a fence at the GFTL. (Scarcasm) At least there would still be LOZ and Taneycomo we could fish.

I'm going to Table Rock tomorrow. I am thankful that it is there and available for me to go to. I don't think that I am qualified to run a multi-million dollar hydroelectric dam. What a balancing act these engineers have. They can say something one minute and circumstances dictate that they change it the next. Probably why they for the most part keep their mouths shut, as much as we will let them. A completely thankless job. I mean completely.

Of course then this breeds speculation and hearsay on our parts.

You all who have been around, know how I felt about us NEEDING the Branson Landing. I can tell you now, I do not believe it had even the slightest consideration in what the engineers did this last couple of weeks. They did the minimum they thought they could and still get by.

4 city blocks of business on the water front in Branson do not have a lot of pull on the enitre White River and Mississippi water shed.

If the corps thought the dam was in danger, at anytime, you can bet your last chili dog that Bass Pro Shop on the Landing would now be sell their junk in forsyth at River Run Park and the resturants at the Landing would now be servicing upper Bull Shoals.

I'm on board with Phil to the hilt on this one. We all knew with the flooding on the Mississup, that our water was only going to go to a managable level. Just like 08 we are going to have this for a while. Most of the resort owners, should still have their extended ramps from 08. Speaking to the resorts I guide from, most have already extended their ramps back out, and their docks are working and functional.

The Corp of Engineers have to look at the total picture, it is extremely hard for us to do that. This water shed is over a million acres, and it all got wet.

Just hate to see the millions they spent on all our beautiful parks gone, but that is the price of doing business on the largest water shed in the Eastern United States

Imagine what the flood would have done if the lake wasn't drawn down so low this past winter. As far as I know Beaver, TR, and Bull Shoals were all very low this year. I think the corp know more than what alot of people percieve. Just my 2 cents.
