Al Agnew Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 We've been home from Montana more than two weeks. The rivers are getting into fishable shape. But I've been swamped with work to do and going crazy. Wife just left for Peru with a bunch of other women, so I've got the house to myself. Still have a big painting to do between now and early June. My Montana buddy is coming to Missouri at the end of next week for several days, so we'll get in some fishing then, but I need to go NOW! Stopped off at Bass Pro after dropping Mary off at the airport yesterday. Had to stop myself from buying a reel and a whole bunch of lures I don't need. I detoured from St. Louis just so I could cross Big River and see how it looked. In breaks from painting, I've repainted a few lures and I've just about worn out the bass in my pond beside the house. Fishing gets more like an obsession the longer it goes between trips! Somebody drag me away from this easel.
ColdWaterFshr Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I'm game. This afternoon there is a creek somewhere with my name on it. Haven't wet a line in almost 2 months thats if you don't count 15 minutes it took to snag some hand-tied clousers in the subdivision cesswater pond the other day. This has to change today.
stlfisher Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I feel your pain. It has been a busy spring for me and not much fishing. I spent most of February and March recovering from a Rotar Cuff injury that made casting any rod difficult. Once that supsided it was either, snowy, rainy or the streams have been too high. I took the day off and I am going Friday, but they are talkig rain again. Looks like I am gonna get wet...I am going no matter what. It has been the least amount of fishing I have done over any 4 month stretch I can remember.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I hear ya Al. I haven't been fishing in a month at least. I'm headed out bass fishing Friday. 20 acre lake with big fish that like spinnerbaits!!! My favorite, aside from the tailwater ditch pigs. Pete
gotmuddy Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I feel the pain. I havent been since the flood started a few weeks ago. I am going to **try** to hit the bass pond by the house and this weekend I am going to fish piney creek. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
ness Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Bleak for ness in 2011 so far. Last month drove 9 hours to Rolla and back for my daughter; fished 3. Trip to Florida next month, and I hear there's fish down there. And snakes, and gators. John
Brian K. Shaffer Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Al: lemme drive up and get ya and bring back here, to Taney.... where it is actually not so bad, considering. Phil said it could be real good with the new water pattern... as of yesterday. In a boat......... Wait, I can't do that. I am house sitting another week. cwc87 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Gosh Al that is my case exactly (wore out the fish in pond beside house, Been turkey hunting for 3 weeks, workload is crazy for the next 3 months) The rivers and creeks are just getting right. That's it I'm going for couple hours this evening on the Huzzah and Meramec. The bass better watch out or I'm gonna catch you!!
jdmidwest Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Apple Creek looked really good yesterday. May try to squeeze in a float Sat. if it is not raining. Otherwise, it is still lake fishing. Went to Duck Creek for the first time on Sun. on way back from turkey hunting. Water has been over all of the roads on the place. Main pool is bank full and crystal clear. Small pads are still covering about a third of the pool and everything is covered from the bridge up. I was in the bass boat by myself and fished for 3 hours without a strike on a jig, worm, or crankbait. I was having a tough time controlling the boat and fishing in the wind and could not get good coverage. Small ponds are great now for bass and bluegill. Gills are starting to bed.
