flytyer57 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I agree with E, they need to make everyone around that lake have their septics inspected and updated tanksthat havemved or been damaged by erosion or construction will leach into the soil before in can go thru the leach field and coil properly.A properly operating septic is fine as long as you have at least and acre and a half of land.I'm on septic in St.Louis County, one of the few and my nieghbor's sytem was old and not working right and it got nasty. Also as two of my good friends I hate to admit are pleasure boaters. They have 50 foot plus Hatterases with multible heads as do a ton of boats @ the lake. My friends are diligant in there maitenence of the waste but, there are several boaters at the lake that just release into the lake. It's ilegal and fucking disgusting.I have seen the brown slicks in the channel in the heat of the summer and the worst is you will see parents tubing there kids thru the dung slicks????? this is child abuse if you ask me. So then you really don't find "LIBERAL" water and air quality standards disgusting. Or is this an only when it suits your needs and desires option? There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Members FishinJack Posted June 23, 2011 Members Posted June 23, 2011 Whoa there FishinWrench! Show me. Show me a person that has got sick. Don't just be a dramma queen yappin on the internet talkin smack. I live here, never have had a problem from the water, nor have I ever talked with anyone who has. I know several neighborhood kids that swim all the time in the cove that also have never gotten sick. If this lake is so poluted why is fishing so good here? You go to tablerock for a tournament have fun not catching fish. This lake if you don't have 19 or 20lbs dont even bother weighing in. I won a tournament a couple days ago where we had almost 19lb. Second place was just a few ounces behind that, and thrid place was just a little under that. AND THIS WAS A 3 1/2 HOUR TOURNAMENT!! Have fun maybe catching 15lbs everywhere else. I'm going to go catch some more fish right now! Have fun playing on the computer. I'll post another picture.

flytyer57 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 If this lake is so poluted why is fishing so good here? Because of all the "poop." It fertalizes the lake and stimulates growth of micro-organisms which larger animals feed upon, which in turn even larger animals feed upon... There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
OzarkFishman Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I second that Trout Commander. Seriously, no comments on the cornholio comment ... I mean cornholio and POOP go hand in hand (pun intended).

Smalliebigs Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 So then you really don't find "LIBERAL" water and air quality standards disgusting. Or is this an only when it suits your needs and desires option? What in the hell is "LIBERAL" about making homeowners adhear to municipal building and water codes????? As a homeowner on a septic you should be required by law to maintain the system and update it if needed, there is nothing "LIBERAL" about that. The fact that they don't make everyone around all lakes pump their waste away from the lake is stupid if you ask me.

I suppose it's ok for goverment to enact and enforce environmental laws so long as it suits your needs? My point is that some people think that those nasty "LIBERALS" are always trying to force the public into doing something that is good for the environment (that's why they're known as "tree huggers") at the expense of the rights of the property owners. Conservatives are caught in a Catch-22 here. Either they uphold the conservative values of government not getting in the way private property rights, or they uphold the liberal idea of clean water. That is what "LIBERAL" has to do with it. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Flysmallie Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Thanks for ruining a perfectly good thread with all your political bullshit.
OzarkFishman Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Let me try to digress yet again. Flytyer ... bringing up Catch-22 is incredibly coincidental for me ... I haven't talked about the idea of Catch-22 in years, but I brought it up in my class a few days ago. The class I am teaching is an overall math class full of incoming 7th and 8th graders. After the word Catch-22 was stated the whole class looked at me dumbfounded. I had to then explain what that meant (which was a nice way to work in cross-curricular instruction). I agree with Flysmallie that this thread really didn't have to go "all political", but it did and that's that. Hope you all have a great day and a great weekend. I know I will ... I plan on swimming in some POOP, eating some POOP filled fish and hopefully finding some TP for my cornholio (I don't have to quote Beavis, since I didn't say bunghole ) OzarkFishman
