flyfishmaster Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 mic, You do know there are other ways to resolve that problem... it is called a "gentelmen's club" Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
fishinwrench Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Have you ever wet waded all day in snow melt? If yes, did you get your D___ out by sticking your thumb in your mouth and blowing hard. No I haven't, I've never been out West....you got me there. What is the average river temp in that part of the country during the Summer?

I'm not sure, but I feel out of kayak in Germany (military) once in July during the thaw. It was cold enough to take your breath away. I couldn't image standing in it all day.
Trevor K Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 might try something like this http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/315,3806R_Boyt-Harness-Wader-Bag-Nylon-Mesh.html
eric1978 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I bought one of these taco bags last year. So far, so good. I've had wet waders and boots in it for as long as it would take to fly back from Yellowstone. The waders dry fast...hang them up while you pack all the rest of your stuff. The boots take longer but what'r ya gonna do? Just unpack it all as soon as you get home. It'll be fine.
drew03cmc Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Water temperature today at noon was 59 degrees. That is what Bennett flows at all year long, and you can wet wade in it from April through September. Wet wade, 'nuff said. Andy

Even standing right below Montauk Spring during summer gets your legs all numb and tingly...imagine if there was some ice cold mountain stream runoff mixed in with that. I'd be bringing my waders if I were mic.
grizwilson Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Two things to consider. 1 it is a VERY dry climate, waders will dry very quickly if you can just lay them in the sun before heading to the airport. I have made numerous trips out west, since the mid 80s after mid july I rarely use waders and never use neopreme. This year they had alot of snow so the rivers will be higher though. I usually take waders but end up in my simms sandals. Do not forget bug spray, sun screen and lip balm. Drink lots of water. Just my two cents. g “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
mic Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 I ended up buying a FISHPOND YELLOWSTONE WADER-DUFFEL BAG. It worked great. What was still damp (or smelled fishy) when I left was put in the bottom, and was dry when I got home. Pluses are that the bag was big inside and has good size side pockets. All of mine and my wife's wading gear fit in it plus my whole tackle bag. Negatives: My four piece rod did not fit it and it has no rollers. Overall, I would recommend it and glad I bought it.
Njardar Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I don't know if fly shops around yellowstone do this, but those in Estes Park, CO rent gear for as little as a few hours to days. Why not just rent waders and boots?
