Yes if you have water, but when we went about a month ago there really wasn't enough water in a lot of the shoals to do much maneuvering.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I don't think lack of water was our biggest issue though.

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.

I don't know about that, those oars didn't seem to get much of a bite in gravel.

I've never fired a riffle in my life, sorry

Indeed, "firing a riffle" would be difficult, seeing as how they are filled with water... Now a rifle, on the other hand...

(riffle, as in the stretch of river between a pool and a run... Who knew an extra F could make that much difference in the context?)

Kind of like stripers vs. strippers...... Although both can be fun at the right time, so I've been told. Now back to work and sell more cars! I know you're at 185% of your personal sales goals, but you are only at 50% of quota

Thanks for sharing that, Al!

Any tips on the best technique for landing a canoe where you actually want to along a gravel bar?

Somebody help this lady out. Me -- I jam the bow into the gravel, swing the end around and dismount. It ain't pretty.

I thought that was standard operating procedure...gather as much speed as possible and slide ashore. Is there another way?

Well of course there is....

Rudder on the right, glide towards gravel bar on right...

set paddle across thwart and throw right leg out...

Step out with right foot just before canoe connects gravel...

Left heel, which will now be caught in seat strap or edge of gunnel will bring canoe to a sudden stop...

Riight foot will slide on a snot rock just enough to make you think you are going to fall....but you wont....So just ride it out and try to look cool.

Shake left foot free Billy Jack style , fake a liimp for a few steps and say, "oh darn I got a cramp"...just in case anyone was looking.
