Smalliebigs Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I always crack up when I here comments on this forum that there is no "good" fishing close to St.Louis pure ignorance. We fished 5 hours and caught several Drum from 2 to 6 pounds, which I know alot of you will frown on, we also caught a ton of White Bass from 2 to 3 pounds that most would consider trophies. Then we caught 8 of these brutes and unlike some of you on this forum I enjoy the fight the give up, they were anywhere from 4 to 7 pounds. The only other freshwater fish that compares is a Steelhead in my opinion ***bonus video of some the Bluff and chunk rock banks we caught Hybrids on*** I would like to thank MOsmallies for going out with me....you're like a little brother to me. It was great to get out on the water in a time of turmoil in my life....I thank you buddy. Get out ond fish!!!!! the fishing is awsome right now!!!!!
Mitch f Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Man, you need to take me out and catch some of those hybrids!! They will stretch your line! "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
kevthebassman Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Looks like a blast, I've never been on the Missouri or Mississippi in a boat, always looked too dangerous for my little 14 footer and 1960 Western Auto outboard.

Kevin, if you ever want to go let me know....I'll put you on some Hybrids it's a blast...you just need some braid and at the very least a med/heavy rod.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Nice!!!! I love me some hybrids. I got braid and a seven foot heavy action rod. I also have a nine weight that puts the wuppin to those boys. Pete
mic Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I'm glad you added the video... After my years in Europe and Queen's English, I thought you were fishing for brownies in the toilet.

After my years in Europe and Queen's English, I thought you were fishing for brownies in the toilet. You are correct Mic, the Missouri River is laced with sediment right now and had been all summer from a massive release of water from way up. I also hate to tell you your precious little Blue Springs Creek where I owned property for a long period of time is laced with pathogens, and Ecoli from Bourbon finest septic systems....pick your poison

I would love to try some day. It's good to hear from the SNIO3....I hope all is well???
Bird Watcher Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Who in the heck told you they don't like catching hybrids? Were they smoking crack? The absoulute king of fish in these parts pound for pound IMO. Some other fish get bigger, but nothing is faster, stronger, or has more stamina pound for pound. Those are nice fish. Congrats!
