Everyone has their favorites, but I base my lure choice on the habits of the trout I'm fishing for. Rainbows are generally passive daylight feeders and that hold were they can eat small stuff drifting in the current. If they are in the mood to chase its usually something small. Brown trout are predators. The small ones will feed like rainbows, but the better ones prefer low light, structure, and fish dinners. Study your quarry and the food base at your destination then choose accourdingly. Cheers.

Ha....Mitch and I think the same way!!!! Mitch is right I use the same pointers, this color(Silver Baitfish)My link works well on the Current and I use (Aurora Gold) at Taney but, we doctor them up a bit with some paint. We have caught a ton of big Browns from Phils place to the darn on (Rainbow Trout) , they can be tricky to get to walk under water right in current but once you master how too and can get them to walk underwater in current they are sweet. We can get BIG browns to chase them like a muskie around the boat practicly. We use a huge variety of subsurface and floating baits as well. We also use some of the biggest hand tied jigs you would think of making with as long of a tail as you can tie. I rarely fish for trout that aren't feeding on other fish, but I have been flyfishing way more the last couple of years or should I say losing a bunch of very expensive flys tied by THargrove and his boys. It's like sending a ProV into the woods for me....it's getting expensive

Hey thanks for all the ideas guys... I'm surprised that there is so many different opinions out there. I thought there would maybe be two lures used mostly.

I really like the CD Rapala's for smallmouth bass, can save $$$ on lures for trout.

Keep the good idea's coming... and thanks.

Any small lure will work especially if you fish the areas shaped like long rectangles made of cement.

guaranteed a limit.

I recommend you get some maribu jigs from Swing Oil Baits.com they have won lots of money at Taney. I fish them 90% of the time and have always limited out. Sculpin, olive, white and some other mixture colors. I use 3/32 if there is no water running and 1/8 oz if the water is running. Good luck .:have-a-nice-day:
