I need your help. Many of you fish the White and Norfork tailwaters and have probably been as frustrated with the COE messages on the phone concerning water releases as I am. We get days when they are not updated and then days when we get simply "2 unit are on line" announcements. It is extremely frustrating trying to plan an outing with the current announcements and their lack of information. I would like to have current meaningful announcements that can let me have some idea of what is happening at the dam. I know we can go to the SWPA web site and look at the release chart but that is a little hard if you are on the water.

I am tired of going to the COE office in Mt Home and asking them to do something and get a we will try answer. This brings me to asking each and everyone of you for help. It will only take a moment for your help.

I have put a request on Congressman Rick Crawford's (the local congressman for Mt Home area) Facebook page requesting he do something about the recordings. If all of you would take a minute out of your day and get on his Facebook page and write something asking for his help, perhaps we can get this problem resolved. Please help me out, I know there are hundreds of you if not thousands who could overwhelm him causing him to help us out. The power of the internet is awesome. Thank you all so much.

Not only are the messages lame, inaccurate and unreliable they are dangerous.

facebook? Be glad to help, but I don't belong to that data-mining op. Ya reckon congressmen actually play on there, or just have someone else do it in their behalf?

More power to ya, but I doubt if it will get any where. Try driving 5 hours to Norfork and see the water come on as you are walking down in waders!

SWPA is the persons that control the water. They have releases for electricity, minimum flow, and other reasons like when the Fish and Game needs to float down river to stock. They may have a increased demand due to a need for power if another source drops offline. Or they may shut down for repairs. If they have plenty of water, they will generate as it is a cheap source.

But like you, there should be a more accurate way in this day of tech and on the spot info.

I never call in. I look online at scheduled releases and what they actually release.

everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

It would be nice to be able to call and see if the "projected" releases actually occured. It would be great to have them list the water releases as CFS not as units on line.

Check out USGS, I'm sure you could tell if there was a release by looking at the graphs from the stream gauges on those rivers.

norfork is usually wrong online about projected releases. More than once I have made the trip over and ended up having to launch at the confluence.
