eric1978 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I can't think of one regulation that has inconvienced me. Well you wear tennies to wade in so the felt ban probably didn't bother you much. But the rest of us have to buy new boots. Aside from that, recent regs don't make much difference to me either. Whatever the biologists say is best for the rivers, I'm fine with it. I just wish they'd go after the dbags that really screw them up instead of nitpicking the anglers with little this and that regs while they ignore the bigtime habitat destroyers...polluters and bulldozers and what-not.

If Chief wears tennies, that means he doesnt have on waders. I think we should check with the biologists to determine whether Chiefs underwear poses a haz mat threat to our rivers! fishinwrench Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 That's what I'm talkin about. There were already laws, regs, and codes in place before that latest sewage mishap down by Chief's place..... Did anyone get in trouble for it? Was there even a "serious investigation"? I was under tge belief that structures containing hazardous waste are supposed to be built to codes that ensure it can withstand a potential 10 year flood situation. And if it isn't then Heads Should Roll ! There are faulty structure mishaps all the time, and heads never roll.
Gavin Posted April 12, 2012 Author Posted April 12, 2012 MDC's mandate doesnt include pollution enforcement. You need to complain to someone else if you want something done about that.
Chief Grey Bear Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I don't believe there was any raw sewage involved. I think all it was, was a basin to hold storm water from inundating the waste water treatment plant. And yes, the company that built it is taking responsibilty. No you don't. You can tennis shoes too. I agree 100% with the rest of your post. I remember TU stopping or severely altering a land delevopers plans in AR just a few years ago. Why doesn't the MSA try to do this in Missouri???? That's what I'm talkin about. There were already laws, regs, and codes in place before that latest sewage mishap down by Chief's place..... What does this really have to do with transporting non-native species and dumping them and glass on rivers??? You are kinda flying all over the place.. Al Agnew Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I'm with Eric...too little policing and punishment of some of the big problem makers. But it isn't an either/or thing. If the science shows potential harm, regulate it, stop it, enforce it, and punish those who do it. Many keep hollering to get the government out of our lives. But the day has long passed when we can depend upon people to police themselves, and the simple fact is there are just too many of us with too much technology to let things slide that we once could have. Back a long time ago, you could (barely) make the case that one person or one industrial plant doing something that was bad for the environment wasn't a big deal because they weren't having much of an impact. Today, though, when you have a LOT of people and industries with the potential to do the same thing and do it to a much greater degree, it IS a big deal.
jdmidwest Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Looking at the reasons that they are having to revamp the reg on the craws is that the MDC could not enforce the old regs and the bait shops There was still illegal craws showing up in bait shops..
