moguy1973 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Anyone tried these top water walk the dog lures? I know most of these types of w-t-d lures are similar, but these are about half the price of a Sammy and that's attractive in itself if they work as well and catch fish. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Ham Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I feel certain they'll work just fine. I like the Super Spook Je as much as any of the WTD baits. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Mitch f Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Looks good! The one thing I've found out with walk the dog lures, it's all about how you work them and not so much the lure. Any of the walk the dog lures will work fine out of the box. Some glide better, some splash better, some can walk "in place". It's what the fish want that day. To me if they could invent a lure that does all 4 things well...walk, glide, pop/splash and roll, Then you could use it in almost every situation. Ususally the ones that are a popper walker hybrid, don't glide so well. The good gliders don't pop/splash as well. So, I think you need 2 or 3 walkers in your arsenal. One for spring and early summer, these pop/splash and stay in place to annoy fish in the general time of the spawn. The other in mid summer to fall that glides and walks well when the fish are in the chasing mode, like a sammy. My two cents "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Jerry Rapp Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 my humble opinion is if they don't bite an original Zara Spook then they aren't biting a walking bait.
Members walker04 Posted April 30, 2012 Members Posted April 30, 2012 my humble opinion is if they don't bite an original Zara Spook then they aren't biting a walking bait. I couldn't agree more. I have tried multiple brands/styles, and no matter what I always come back to a Zspook. It probably boils down to confidence as well, and I have an overabundance in the Zspook. I use a the Bullfrog one and the Silver/pink....thats it. 9/10 that I use it, I catch fish.
Gavin Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Like the Sammy 100 and Gunfish 95 better than the Spook...but I carry all 3...sometimes the fish show a preference for one over the others.. That SK bait looks like a Sammy knockoff. I'm sure it will work, and the price looks nice. If I wasnt long on Sammy's I'd probably give it a go.
