exiledguide Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I don't think I said anyone was raped I was following up on Al's comment about his niece being being threatened and a guy exposing himself to a teen age girl. In my world if you do that the best you get is probation and a place on the registered sex offender list. I never complained about people being loud or having a good time. I even posted in the past how I had no problems with the folks floating by me on the James river below Shelvin Rock how some even asked me if it was OK to float past me. Actualy the stuff I'm growing in my mind is a product of a parochial grade school education, the 10 Commandments, the Bible, loving parents who required me to act like I had a brain, Frank the cop who was the law around the white water tower in north St Louis, the United States Army who reinforced the idea of self disipline. The company where I spent most of adult life working who had no nonesense work rules. The writings of people in our history such as Franklin, Patton, Eisenhower and Truman. Authors from Twain to James Lee Burke. I don't parrot anyone elses ideas, I have always prided myself of being an independent thinker so don't either of you try to match wits with me you will find yourself only half prepared at best. I made my comment after reading Al's post and the dissmisive tone of post relating to his post. The thing that bothers me is post complaining about the law being enforced. If you feel that enforcing the law is wrong then I suggest that you should inform the media and and law enforcement and go out and get yourself arrested and beat it in court.
fishinwrench Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 With an education and street smarts like you have, who needs a legal mediator to keep you safe from the dreaded river thugs? I'm confident that you'll be ok.
Jeff Olson Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I totally agree feathers and fins, this has been a pretty popular topic lately on a couple different forums and for good reasons.something needs to be done because its just a matter of time and bad things will happen! everyone just check out the post this am on the beaver lake site ( boat crash!!!)
fishinwrench Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Was that accident a product of drunken thuggery? I was under the impression that the only alcohol involved is what was in the fuel tank.
Feathers and Fins Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Was that accident a product of drunken thuggery? I was under the impression that the only alcohol involved is what was in the fuel tank. No details if alcohol was involved or anything else.... However it does not take much to understand had they been pying attention the wouldnt have ran into a bluff wall that can be seen a LONG way off. People just do as they see fit on the lakes in a lawless old west style DONT CARE! Could this have been prevented with more law present? I do not know but can some of it be prevented? YES. I really cant beleive people are even condoning the use of drugs and alcohol on the rivers streams and lakes all in the name of a "good time" seriously you see a gig mark on aa smallmouth and blow up or see a poacher and go threw the roof but its ok because they are having a good time to do drugs and drink in public and be disorderly in public or others must move to make way for their behavior. Wonder how much damage to the enviroment they are doing to those smallmouth creeks and rivers? I sure seem to see a lot of trash left in the creeks and rivers durring summer and it aint from fishermen. I see deep pools with all kinds of trash in them and filth and it aint from fishermen. Giggers and poachers are bad but the impact of these ( good time boys and girls ) might in fact be wourse than the giggers and poachers. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
fishinwrench Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Ok fine, you win. But after all the "fun seekers" are legally brow-beaten back into their homes for good and are all on probation or in jail....THEN will you please go after the cows and destructive runoff sources ?

Fun is one thing, Illegal activity is another and should not be permitted or condoned anyplace.... Nothing wrong with at all no one has ever said it. Just not in a manner that adversly affects others or in an illegal manner. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
fishinwrench Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 About the only thing "legal" you can do anymore is watch the news, sleep, and pay your taxes. Try doing anything else and chances are you're riding the fence on legality.
Mitch f Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 If they are doing actual harm to other people, animals, or the waterway and surrounding land.....then I absolutely agree. Well it depends what you mean by actual harm, did the guys physically touch Al's neice? no. Did they expose themselves in front of her? yes...actual harm done whether they touched her or not. People can have fun and get loud, thats ok. Like someone said, just act the same way on a river that you would in everyday life on the street. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Justin Spencer Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Some of the loudest most annoying groups we have are church youth groups with pre-teen girls. They stay up until all hours laughing and giggling and having quite a time. Far from anything illegal going on, but still not what many people want to deal with. If you are against anyone having fun on a river that doesn't involve acting like you are in church or on a golf course, then avoid the rivers during the weekends in the summer. As I've said before there are well over 300 days per year that the rivers are calm and quiet, About 15% of the year those the socialites take over the river. This is how it's been for decades, from what I understand the North Fork is better than it used to be thanks to increased law enforcement on our river. Some rivers are still very enjoyable in the summer, do your homework and you will find one. Just like at a themepark or the ballpark people are going to make noise and yell, some are going to get drunk and be annoying yelling at the ump, or booing a player that used to juice. Nobody is forcing you to go floating or go to a ballgame, if you don't like it, don't go, that's your right. If you want peace and quiet come during the week, or go to a Royals game, either way you won't have much company.
