eric1978 Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I just call it natural selection Unless your kid goes to your neighbor's house with their kid, and trouble ensues. Then you call it a tragedy. Just sayin'. I'm not totally anti-gun...I'm a gun owner. But let's not pretend they don't cause a ton of problems that wouldn't exist without them around and so casually regulated.
Feathers and Fins Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I look at the gun problem as two fold. One criminals and to that problem you will always have them enforcement of laws and tougher penalties would help. The other is lack of people being taught proper gun safety and control. Growing up all my friends parents had guns my dad had guns heck I had a gun the day I was born ( seriously gramps bought me a gun when my dad called to tell them it was a boy ) We grew up knowing about them knowing how to handle them and shoot them. They were not something that was hidden and a mystery that would provoke curiousity. Not one of us ever have had an accident with them. Criminals will always be around. Education of the rest will solve a lot of problems or at least reduce the it. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

Hot-headed idiots with poor judgment and ego problems who think this is the wild west. Example: George Zimmerman. Maybe he DID act in self defense...but what's almost certain is that kid would still be alive if George didn't think he was Captain Citizen and went looking for a way to assert his machismo and self-appointed authority. You can't teach idiots judgment. I don't think George Zimmerman is a criminal, and he very well may have acted entirely within the law...the problem was that he's an authoritarian egomaniac with the legal right to carry a gun. Put them together, you get a dead kid and a couple parents with ruined lives, even though a law may not have even been broken. Direct result of the combination of guns and stupid people...illegal or not.
Feathers and Fins Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Bad example with Zimmerman as he should not have had a gun to start with look at his past actions ones that should have prevented him from having a gun. But I do get your point. Im not sure how to answer it other than saying there are people who should not have a drivers license or be allowed to breed. Bad example with Zimmerman as he should not have had a gun to start with look at his past actions ones that should have prevented him from having a gun. Did he break some law that would have prevented him from legally owning one? How exactly would we keep track of who has done what that disqualifies someone from owning a gun (aside from being a felon)? And how do we determine what exactly those disqualifiers are? We can't. There are and always will be TONS of lawful citizens who are raving lunatics or mouth-breathing morons who will legally own and carry around guns...and those are the people who make me really nervous, and they're the reason I think our current gun laws don't make sense.

As to how, The national database of people with felonies probably needs to be better, unfortunately on the mental illness side that is confidential information betwenn the Pat and Doc... But A criminal will still get a weapon if he wants. Gun Laws are strict as are criminal punishments for them its getting the judge to go with the tougher penalty that is the problem. I support the Use a Gun in a crime go to jail for 25 year minimum. I am not worried about the big mouths dealt with plenty of them, I tend to walk away and ignore them, they can call me all the names in the book those dont bother me and should one take it further there I think I can handle the situation and defuse it with minimal force, but prefer not to have it go that far. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
