fishinwrench Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I guess I just can't leave this alone. Some of you guys are really out of touch. Wrench/Jack I can't believe some of the crap you've said, "criminals are statistically more targeted in who they kill". Tell me your just like wrench, "I'm just talkin". Why are you putting Jack and I's quotes in a catagory together ? So, you see someone shoot another, then turn and walk away..... Do you drop him? If so, keep in mind that someone behind you is gonna see it....and all they might know is that YOU just shot someone. And then the guy who is just getting out of his car when that guy drops you....What does HE know? Before you can say "holy piss" you've got 5 guys bleeding in the parking lot, when otherwise the original shooter prolly would have driven home, had a breakdown and turned himself in before breakfast the next day.
Members rayfromcrane Posted August 27, 2012 Members Posted August 27, 2012 People lets just agree to disagree and let it drop also ask chief why he is not out their doing rain dance or jitterbug or twist.Sorry Chief could not help my self.Your turn..rfc
Jack Jones Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 In the NYC case, it was pretty evident who his target was. He had attempted to get into the building, was denied access and actually waited for his boss to arrive. Now, I don't think "robbers" are good guys. In fact I hate thieves with a passion, whether street criminals, politicians, or uniformed thieves. However, when it comes to homicide, I discovered in my studies back when I was going to school that random, indiscriminate homicide was a rarity. Most killers have an intended target and motive when they take a life. I agree this topic got way off track from it's intent. I would support locking it at this point, even though I do enjoy reading all the responses. For parking lots it's best to carry 3 to 4 guns plus a small RPG. At breakfast you can usually get by with just 2 guns... ...unless you're having a breakdown, in which case you should probably empty out the gun locker.
ness Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Now, I don't think "robbers" are good guys. ...yet your avatar is a pirate. Hmmmm. John
Jack Jones Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 LOL....I prefer the term "privateer" Ness. Haris122 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 However, when it comes to homicide, I discovered in my studies back when I was going to school that random, indiscriminate homicide was a rarity. Most killers have an intended target and motive when they take a life. Judging by "the first 48" intended homicides by the average criminal (not counting mass murderers psychos etc, that just do it for the rush) do seem to have very particular reasons behind them, whether it's something understandable like the other guy shot and killed his little brother, or something idiotic like the guy in the killers mind is the primary suspect that may have stolen his golden chain or necklace. But there are also quite a few robberies that degenerate into murder cause either the guy got nervous, on a power trip, or the victim started fighting back and got shot/stabbed in the process.
MOPanfisher Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 As for the original question, yes sometimes I do carry and sometimes I don't, it depends on where I am going and for how long. Anyone who thinks that the average person who is legally carrying a concealed firearm is a threat to the general public is as deluded as someone who thinks that they are going to be the guy who stops a bank robbery. If you are carrying legally have at it, I doubt you and me are going to get into a shootout over who's turn it is at the ramp or because you are fishing "MY" spot.
Greasy B Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I have had a loaded pistol aimed at my head three times in my life. Twice by LEO's and once by a random kook in north St Louis. The kook quickly lowered his weapon with a laugh and disappeared. The two LEO's told to not move or else they would blow my brains out. I darn near peed my pants. Both LEO's pointed their weapons at me because of a false report. Sounds like the kook was less threatening. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
fishinwrench Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Oh I gotta hear this! What were you reported to have done that caused them to draw down on you without a questioning session first? ,....................................................................................................... The situation that I'm most curious about is; What happens when you are carrying and someone engages you in a fist fight? Ya know, cuz you allegedly touched his girlfriends butt as she passed by, or whatever. Do you defend yourself physically with your hands and feet, or do you go for the pistol in fear that he might get it from you during the scrap? That's a real world situation, right? And one where you're probably better off without the gun.
