Greasy B Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Too early to tell but I guess I'll store my camping gear away instead of worrying about being washed of a gravel bar at night. The fishing gear will stay at the ready for now. Most of the larger rivers will take the first few inches pretty easily, after 3 or 4 inches all hell my break loose. Daryk Campbell Sr Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 .... Can't help but think of the "Hundred Year Storm" from the movie Point Break..... "he aint comming back". In all seriousness, I hope if any of you decide to fish/hunt whatever during the rains, I hope you all come back. This stuff is dangerous and we all know it. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Gavin Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Plan an escape route...and bring some extra supplies. You might be there awhile...Happened to a few buddies of mine when the upper Current rose 11' one evening in early January. They ended up spending two extra days on the river with no beer and little food, Not happy campers.
Greasy B Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 No Beer! Oh the horror. That's just too much of a chance to take, If the beer stays home so do I. I have some close calls with high water in the past and almost got swept away once long ago. Its not worth it if i can't relax. Guest csfishinfool Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Just a wait and see deal. If that river gauge is still climbing on sat. morning ill have to postpone. Maybe just take the bass boat to the lake, only if it is raining so I don't have to deal with the wakeboarders
