We were fishing what I call flat rock hole, Montauk regulars know it well, a couple hundred yards upstream from the dam. Well anyway fishing was slow and I decided to try out my new GoPro camera mounted to an aluminum extension pole. Camera has a waterproof case so I was filming sculpins, trout and whatnot. Just happened the guy next to me tied into the Brown so I did my best to film it.

He told me later, 2 1/2 lbs. and took it to Salem to have it mounted. I do catch and release so i was a little bit disappointed he kept it. But he caught and I didn't so he can do whatever he darn well wants.

Cool. The guy took a 2.5#er to have mounted?!?!? Sheesh.

Good job with the GoPro, nice vid. I actually had it emailed to me before you posted it on the YouTubes.

nobody mounts a 2 1/2 lb Brown......I agree with Andy, that fish looked foul hooked and the dude look sheepish with that fish and then walked away almost embarrassed as he should have if he actually mounted a 2 1/2 Brown Trout.

That reminds me of this weekend, on the way to LOZ we stopped at a little market /gas station/bong store at the Richland exit on HWY 44 and the dude running the store was a partime guide/store owner. He had a bunch of cool smallie pics on a board by the door with a skin mount smallie that looked to be from 1985. The fish was about 18 inches and the mount had a tag on it that said caught by Paul on the Gasconade River 24 3/4 inches!!!!!!.....lol

My buddy and I chuckled to ourselves and then when we got back in my truck broke out in complete laughter.....what a dork.

If I'm thinking right, upstream from the dam was marked off as Catch and Release only. I have only been once, and I did not get to know the whole park so I could be dead wrong.

Get that man signed up for the Rose Holland...He may have derby skills...

I'm never surprised at what people take for the wall..Might be his first "legal" brown trout...I know one fellow who mounted 3 15" browns together on a stringer. It was the first time he ever caught his "limit" outside the troutpark. That was pretty hard to do back then.

He caught it fair and square. Personally I would not have kept it but there are plenty more fish out there... and good for him.

Only catch and release is below the rearing pools from the "lake" spring.

The hook may have been in the mouth and the line wrapped around the body or tail but it was brought in tail first. At no time did the fish's nose turn towards the angler. It happens.
