Dictating who can or cannot possess a firearm is pointless. After Adam Lanza's mom was dead WHO owned the guns? Adam Lanza did.

When someone who is "perfectly sane and authorized to possess guns" passes away, which government entity is gonna swoop in and decide what happens to their gun collection?

You either have to allow firearms or not, period. The whole BS of this guy can... but that guy can't is just flippin' insane.

So with that logic, since he killed her, he commited no crime by stealing her guns as was claimed.

That would be the probate court. Which negates the logic in quote above.

Well there you go folks. It is now legal for felons to own firearms.

On a serious note, I don't think all felonies should be grouped as one when it comes to the owning a firearm. There are felonies that have nothing to do with firearms.

There's never been any probate court deciding who got what after any death in my family.

If whatshisface's mom had died in a car crash a week earlier I'm sure the guns would have been his and/or his brothers. Right along with the house, cars, and cooking utensils.

And yeah I agree, a person convicted of writing multiple bad checks can be a felon.... yet they obviously drew their own personal line at robbing at gunpoint for money. They could have done way worse than write a bad check if they needed money....but obviously they didn't. So after their debt to society is paid they should not be restricted from owning a firearm IMO.

For all those who said they wouldnt go after hunting rifles lets look at Diane Feinsteins bill propsal, just a few of the bullet points

1. banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks”

2. decrease from two to one the number of cosmetic features on a gun to have it be considered an “assault weapon

So by her standards my TC would now be an "assault rifle" I have a thumbhole stock on it. a bipod a scope and iron sights plus a sling. 3 cosmetic features plus a thumbhole on a single shot breach loading weapon... SORRY but it is a pure hunting rifle that would now fall under her deffinition of a assault rifle.

I doubt it Phil; with politicians in office who have no understanding of firearms and wanting to ban them. People said they wont go after sporting or hunting guns but her new bill does exactly that. Im betting these conversations are far from over. But people need ot keep it civil and clean.
