Al Agnew Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 How is this the fault of the MDC?? You will never see a forced kill on any species. You can be encouraged but not forced. Until the Smallmouth in those streams are listed as threatened or endangered, you are seeing about about the strictest regs you are going to see. And we are still a long, long way from that. It's not the fault of MDC, never said it was. And you're right, I don't expect a forced kill. I think you're right about the present regs being as strict as we'll see. I just don't think they go far enough, but on the other hand, perhaps there really isn't a lot we can do, given the fact that these streams ARE perfect spotted bass habitat. I would just like to see, just once, an experimental regulation on one stream section that would show what would happen with complete protection for smallmouth and no protection whatsoever on spotted bass. Hey, if it didn't do any good, then take it back off after a few years and accept that these streams will never be what they were before.
Mitch f Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Don't want to hijajck this thread but: A friend told me that a Pulaski County gigging check point caught 3 boats Saturday night with 337 suckers over the limit with 1 walleye. A little effort makes a difference....maybe word will get out in the gigging community that they better have 1 eye in the back of their head while poaching. Now if the prosecutor will just do his job.................. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 The story about a raid on the Niangua several years back was that the giggers lost their boats. I heard this from someone I would believe. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
fishinwrench Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 337 ?!!!!! Sonuva B ! Yeah, some truck and boat seizing and jail time has gotta follow that. That has to be a felony, right?

exiledguide Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Wrench,I hope so, what good is a law if the punishment is just a slap on the wrist Why bother. In the late 80's in NW Ontario, One walleye over the limit in the freezer cost the guy and the owner of the fishing camp $ 1,500
fishinwrench Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Hell, couple years ago a guy lost his WHOLE darn LIFE over a bag of spoonbill eggs. Seized his truck, his bass boat, sentenced him to 5 years, and fined him 10k. Ain't no recovering from that.....Life is over.
joeD Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 "what's happening with them sausages Charlie?" " Five minutes, Turkish." "It was two minutes five minutes ago."
