Chief Grey Bear Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Heck with that....You asked...Thinking that you are probably a superstar boat mech, but underemployed for a person with your inate talents. Fierce independence, and a take no crap attitude, plus a good sense of humor. I am sure that you are a heck of a fisherman. Coldwater would do a better write up...PM him with your sordid biographical details... No bad feelings for Chief or Drew. They are who the are. Just dont want to argue east coast spot issues with them again. . Has Mitch got a hold of you yet?? Mitch f Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Here is a 17" spot from an un-named river in an un-named county, I refused to commit to the date that this fish was or was not harvested. Greasy B Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Good fish, better disclaimer. FWIW, a blind man riding a horse backward can see where that fish was caught. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974

Wayne SW/MO Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Pflieger mentions in his book that there was an undocumented stocking in the Osage system before 1940 and that one was seined at the junction of the big rivers in 1969. That puts them very close 40+ years ago. If you assume they have had access for many decades then the question would be "what is different?". I have trouble buying the dams theory because the dams are not only far upriver, but they are all old enough to question why it would take so long to make a big difference? I don't see how the big changes in most of the Ozark streams can be ignored, given the fact that spots are drawn to waters just slightly warmer and more turbid than smallies? I'm not real familiar with the eastern streams, but I assumed they suffered the same fate as the ones in the west, loss of deep water and clear water. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
