Taking information from Brian, Al, Gavin, and Smallie, plus a gent at work, I came up with this jig for river smallies and pond bass. I'm calling it PB&J. Pic isn't great, but would like suggestions as I'm not quite done tweaking it. Plan is for it to be a bottom bouncer.

It is a 1/8 lead free brown jig head and articulated body.

Tail: Brown and purple Marabou

Body: Brown chennille

Wrap: Purple hackle and gold wrap

Legs: Purple and brown every second chennille wrap on the jig hook

Collar: Brown Schlappen

It should do the trick.

I think you should add some bou to the backend of the jig for bulk.

I'd do a few like that and a few with more bulk/mass, then let the fish do the choosing.

I'm afraid your gonna get alot of suck&blow bites if fished on the bottom. Some extra bulk might seal the deal. Matter of fact I'm 99.9% sure of it.

Sorry Mic, but that looks like two trout flies strung together...snag a thon, and it lacks a cohesive profile...Experimented with a few tonight..I needed a theme for a jig swap someplace else and borrowed yours....Think this one needs more rusty orange arctic fox to mute the purple flash, or less purple flash, but I like the proportions...It should hunt. Will send you one.
