Mitch f Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I prefer to fish with someone else. But I always feel like I'm trying to please them by allowing them to fish the holes first, so I usually back my boat into a hole. As far as fishing, I'm much more effective fishing alone. ness Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Better memories are created when fishing with a friend. More accurate too! John
Nortrad Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 You know when I fish alone, I prefer to be by myself. It's Friday....
cnr Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 More accurate too! Yep. Seems like the biggest fish and highest number days are when people are alone. My personal best LM came on a day by myself, a honest 10lb fish. No camera, no witness, but a great memory.
stlfisher Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I do both, but my fishing partner is as hard core as I am so we generally have no problem staying on the creek all day. It is always a great time. It is true there are probably more oppurtunities to catch fish or big fish if you fish alone, but it is just not as much fun when no one can witness it.
ozark trout fisher Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Oh, I can do both with equal enjoyment. I used to be very much in the category of liking to fish alone, but more and more that's changing for me. The one exception is wild trout fishing on small streams...hard to do that with other people around, for purely practical reasons. But everything else being equal I prefer to fish with a friend. It's just better for me in almost every way. Although when I'm alone I've taken to bring my dog with me often as not, which makes it considerably nicer.
jdmidwest Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 When wade fishing, I normally do that alone. If there is someone else, we never fish the same hole together, so essentially we are alone. In a boat or floating I tend to pair up with someone. In a boat, it just seems to work better with 2. Floating in kayaks allows one to go down one side of the river and the other cover the opposite side. The better half does not fish. But the kids do. With them, I have to stay close. fishinwrench Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 I still have a bit of the guide mentality. If I know where the fish are and how they are biting then I wanna take someone. But if I've been suffering through a dry spell and know that I'm going to have to spend some time and effort figuring out the bite then I prefer to do the struggling solo.
