jeb Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 The ' co2 thing' you refer to is settled science if you ask any reputable climatologist. Yes, I have asked, have you? Where do you get this vast source of climatological knowledge? You could hold a meeting of scientists who disagree with this theory in a broom closet. High CO2 levels caused the last warm period referenced in the NASA article, as they are now. We humans are releasing quantities of CO2 never before seen. We ARE part of the problem. End of story. We can make a difference by supporting alternative energy research and initiatives, but somehow something as common sense as that has become wrapped up in politics. Oh yeah $$ again. It's all that matters to some of our more shortsighted citizenry and their elected representatives. The dollars are mostly flowing to the believers. That should tell you tell you something, just based on how you vilify the money in your reply. But there is a lot of information on the c02 stuff out there. This is from a quick search. I'm sure you'll find problems with it, just as I do with your religion, but here it is anyway: http://www.co2science.org/about/position/globalwarming.php John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Terrierman Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I'm definitely not a denier, but I do think I'm a realist. I don't think humanity has it in them to stop burning coal, oil and natural gas until it's gone.

I unfortunately agree, and Jeb's paper said that CO2 increases would likely add to more rainfall which would keep temps. down, so lets call it global wetting, or CIimate Change. That paper also reminded me of one of the funniest things I saw on the news last year, when they reported that increased CO2 levels would lead to more poison ivy, good stuff. jeb Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I agree Climate Change is a good catchall name for that branch of the religion, but it means nothing. It's like saying Seasonal Change. Seasons and climate have always changed, and always will. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Haris122 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I agree Climate Change is a good catchall name for that branch of the religion, but it means nothing. It's like saying Seasonal Change. Seasons and climate have always changed, and always will. They have, but generally large scale climate change trends along timeframes not even quite as drastic as this one is heading towards have also all to frequently been followed by some serious mass extinctions, population bottlenecks, and just in general drastic changes in the environment. May not affect us much cause we live someplace where we got our stuff together, but just keep in mind, it might be too late to become a "born-again" believer only once you personally have something at stake.
Smalliebigs Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 OMG that stement is a pile of dung Well said Al, climate change really is an "Inconvenient truth", and for as much good Al Gore has done to bring attention to this crisis, in many ways having his name associated with it has hurt the cause being that many conservatives are so closed minded that they hear the name of a liberal and immediately take the opposite side. I still can't understand how people can seriously believe that all the scientists are wrong and the few deniers with scientific credentials are right, that it's some kind of global conspiracy that all the scientists and scientific organizations are in on, that 100% of the scientists who "believe" it are either incompetent, dishonest, or out to get the poor U.S. while 100% of the few who don't "believe" it are fine, upstanding, honest, and competent.....are you kidding me????? hearing the crap this forum offers from our self alleged scientist on a fishing forum makes me laugh to the point of having to drink my Pinot Noir........blah.....blah......blah...... all scientist agree the world is getting hotter based on the last couple of decades of temps and oh and the fact those scientist removed about 500 of the points on the globe where the temps are taken to get an average or the fact that these locales were moved to urban areas where the heat rises from the asphalt like fumes from the devil......this place is funny......who do you guys think you are trying to influence on here with your arm chair fishing science??????
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 26, 2013 Root Admin Posted March 26, 2013 Alright... is it time? Is it warming up and fishing should start getting good, finally. This topic has run its course.
