Wayne SW/MO Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 You can put in on the James arm and work the area up to Blunk. If and when they turn on, TR has some good crappie fishing also. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
BATCAB27 Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 I am looking for a place to fish next Monday and Tuesday. My brother is coming up from Texas for our annualy fishing trip. We normally take my boat up to Lake of the Ozarks and crappie fish. I am afraid with the cold weather this week the fish won't be bitin up there. I don't think my boat is good for fishing in the James so I was curious if there is a good place to fish from the bank. I have fed more people white bass than any other fish and they always leave satisfied, I love catchin em and eatin em. Wayne is right, you could put in at walnut springs and work your way up. You could almost get to Blunks. There is also a good area to bank fish from at blunks. With the warm weather forecasted for this weekend I would expect a good crowd on that bank though.
stuartsx5 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Thanks for the info. I have found Blunks access on the map but I can't seem to find Walnut Springs. Is that a town or an access? Earl Stuart fishin is livin
stuartsx5 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Wayne, I just caught what you posted about TR. Are you talking about in the lake? If so, where is a good place to put in? I have an old bayliner open bow that has been converted to a fishing boat. I don't like to motor too far cause with that old Force/Chrysler motor it sucks gas like it was still 80 cents a gallon. Also, do you fish the brush, docks or banks for crappie on TR? I have only fished Lake of the Ozarks but would love to be more than a one lake fisherman. Earl Stuart fishin is livin
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 People over due the whole catch and release thing. If you don't believe go diving. I dive these Ozarks lakes all summer and I see more largemouth and smallies than anything. There is absolutely no shortage. And I promise every time you throw a bait in a 5 pounder sees it. Getting him to bite may be a different story. Don't get me wrong I don't keep every largemouth I catch cuz I have plenty if crappie in the freezer but keeping a few here or there isn't gonna hurt anything.
BATCAB27 Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 Thanks for the info. I have found Blunks access on the map but I can't seem to find Walnut Springs. Is that a town or an access? It's an access. Pull up a map and find the intersection of Hwy 248 and 173 just to the west of Galena. Go south on 173 to the 2nd left which I believe is Walnut Springs Dr. follow that down to the ramp.
stuartsx5 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Ok. I see it. There is a house right there by the access. Thanks for the info. Earl Stuart fishin is livin
abkeenan Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 how about sharing a recipe or two.. Thanks. Glenn, All I do is get the fillets, trim them well with blood lines/darker meat cut out and check my best for bones, lightly salt and pepper them, coat in Andy's Fish Seasoning (We use Cajun as it is spicier than the Original but both good) and then just fry them in the deep fryer @ 350 (I think) for about 4 minutes per batch depending on size/thickness of fillets. Cook to golden brown and eat with Ore-Ida crinkle cut french fries. Doesn't get any better IMO.
Terrierman Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Harold Ensley taught me to dip white bass in yellow mustard, then the breading and then deep fry them. Try it, you will like it I promise. Properly cleaned, they're mighty fine. Leave red meat on any freshwater fish and you are in for a nasty tasting bite.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Another is salt and pepper, dip in flour then dip in milk or buttermilk then instant potatoes. Crispy good. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
