JohnP Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 When I first heard about it a couple months ago I was pretty excited about it but then the more I thought about and my little 18 ft'r with 90 hp yamaha with 10 27watt leds and a 55lbs thrust trolling motor was just to quiet . When big motors not running you don't hear nothing but the arrows hittin' the water. its getting to the point where its just too much and if lived on the lake I probably be caling the popo for a peace disturbance complaint, no different than the neighbors dog barking constantly at 3am imho,. Fans are great for shallows but id rather not have to wear ear plugs.
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Did they say why they needed 550 hp? Probably to beat the other competitors to the rare common carp. I have wondered why Morris picked TR for this? It's not a lake that has a lot of people bowfishing on it. I suppose the clear water and Big Cedar/Long Creek marina made it easy to handle? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
dtrs5kprs Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 And you can't shoot carp during the daytime because,,,?
Bill Babler Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Rumor has it they weighed in 16,000 pounds of rough fish. All the fish went to a turtle farm for feed. I may be off, but it was said the winner had between 3 and 4 hundred pounds of fish. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
GNSfishing Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I wish they would target the gar in this lake, sure would thin them out some. Had a 4 footer grab a jig last summer had a good fight and was disappointed when I seen what I was fighting... Rumor has it they weighed in 16,000 pounds of rough fish. Wayne SW/MO Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 If it fought why would you be disappointed? It has to be more fun then reeling in an empty lure. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Between that benefit and the $$$ spent on fuel /food & drink /lodging, you would sort of expect to see them return. Wonder if most of the other events take place on less developed waters.
Jerry Rapp Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 just curious, anyone got a photo of one them boats?

Seth Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Guy I am friends with on Facebook participated. I'll link up a few of the pics he took. Looks like the winner's won $4700. Not a bad pay day for shooting some some nasty ol carp. Check out that carp on the right on the second to last picture. That thing is a beast!
