balsabee Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Comments like "they are a lot better than they were 15 years ago" doesn't really make me want to own a Nitro. KVD would never bite the hand that feeds him and move on to another boat, I wouldn't either. I will say that Johnny Morris did really well with the million dollars his father gave him to start a business. He could have just squandered the money, not sure I would go so far and call that an Amercian success story.
balsabee Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Someone's needing help at the reel counter. Employees and boat sales please get off your computer.
MOBass Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 We need a good general forum to contain the purse swinging in. Have a pig pen to smack talk tackle, boats, ect....Set some defined rules like no personal attacks and direct those post there and away from the lake forums. I come here to discuss tackle and tactics for Table Rock, read up on what is being caught, and keep up with what is going or with regulations. I could care less what brand someone rod or reel someone owns, what boat they drive, what truck they pull it with. We are all fisherman, have our own quirks, and if we set our preconcieved notions aside can learn a little from each other. So now lets get on topic....I am going fishing this weekend. Tomorrow I am heading down after breakfast to do a little pre fish around Baxter, 13, Mill Creek, Fisher, and maybe up to Aunts. If I strike out I am running to Indian Sunday morning with a wing and prayer. My partner is going to hole up and stay warm in the morning, one of us has to be the sane one I guess. I'll be swimming/scrubbing a grub, dragging a shakey head, tossing a fluke into pockets, and probably run a bank or two with a crank and blade for giggles. If you see a lone wolf in a white Nitro 882 tomorrow idle up and say hello and swap stories with me.
Champ188 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Donna and I will be in the same neighborhood in a white/silver Ranger Z119. Oh crap, did I just innocently start another Nitro vs. Ranger fray?
crazy4fishin Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Interesting topic and opinions - sorry MoBass I to come here for insight but I have to chime in - here in Nebraska we also have Cabela's and they face many of the same issues and perceptions and they carry Ranger boats....kinda.... at least here is Omaha they are not well trained in the art of the sale i.e. during the heart of the season they keep them covered.....gotta touch the toy before I buy.... But what I do like about both BPS and Cabela's and even Scheels is that you can usually get equipment at what ever level you are at (read $$$ to spend) whether you are hunting, fishing, hiking, camping or god forbid a race fan, just kidding.....like amboyduke I have a mutts choice of rods, reels, lures etc. and I do look to this board for recommendations, suggestions and then look at all of the outlets both brick and mortar and online and buy when they are on sale or close out....heck even used if the price is right. It really is a non issue who owns the stores as it is the management team and the floor teams at each location that make the difference...I have been in many mom n pop shops and have been treated as bad if not worse because I was not part of their circle of guys that come in daily to shoot the bull. But I have also been treated like one of the family, same way at the chains...once again it is the people that are at that location. I run a business here and finding help much less good help is darn hard right now. Full disclosure - I do run a Nitro 901 and am pretty darn happy with it and am looking to trade this year. I really do appreciate the guys on this board and all of the information....at least those of us far away can live vicariously through you. C4F Crazy4fishinA Cornhusker
techo Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Wishing I was fishing in Aunt's Creek tomorrow! Sorry for the BPS bashing but seems to be the way of it. I agree with you whole heartedly, if you don't love Charlie Campbell then there is something wrong with you. When I fished the AM side of Pro/Am always hoped for him. My friend was lucky enough to fish with him and Charlie's wife packed sandwiches for both of them! I have been to a couple of seminars where Charlie and his partner spoke. They make you feel like you are sitting around the campfire as they tell stories. Amazingly great folks. Tim Carpenter
Hughesy Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 My Dad can beat up your Dad! Gezz everybody, lets get back to fishin'
MOBass Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I tow mine with a Taco. So we don't have to go down the Ford vs. Chevy path at least. All boats are a hole in the water to toss money into. Most any owner has a love/hate relationship with their rig at some point. I'll watch the purse swining threads with much amusement, but stick to posting fishing stuff. Donna and I will be in the same neighborhood in a white/silver Ranger Z119. Oh crap, did I just innocently start another Nitro vs. Ranger fray?
