But yeah, the willfully ignorant survivialist types who buy into this kind of stuff are incredibly easy to mislead. It always reminds me of how shocking it is that the Republican Party has so much of low-income white America on lockdown. As long as they keep the focus on guns, illegal immigration, and "small government," it's amazing how their electorate completely overlooks that their party of choice stands in direct opposition to their own personal economic interests.

I started to zone out and look for the black helicopters when the Unitied Nations became the "land grabber".

Emotion trumps intellect most every time.

I don't think the republicans have a lock on Lemmings.

Think the Farm Bureau is upset because the Blue Way designation might result in restrictions on agricultural runoff.

And they are great conservationist, no wait, I think they are now an insurance company disguised as a family farm advocate and keeper of the land ?

I've been looking at big tracts of duck land lately - or I guess I should say looking for. Because there really aren't any.

And as a liberal will this be open to to downtrodden who can't afford to pay club fees?

I just look because I'm curious, and I have a friend with the kind of uncle who likes to buy giant chunks of the earth when he gets a new hobbie. They're outgrowing their 1000 acres on the Cache right now. By no means am I looking for myself or a club I'll be a member of. More like a free access finders fee. :have-a-nice-day:

Supposedly, there was an item on the Agenda of the Stone County Commission to discuss the White River Blueway on June 18th but those minutes have not been posted as yet.

Read an article a couple of days ago where the local pols, up to US Senator level are having doubts about this Blueway designation. Lots of apprehension concerning federal control.

I read that article too, but I'd use "paranoia" in place of "apprehension" regarding the pol poll, the latter being somewhat justifiable, the former, not so much.

Blueway designation adds no new regulations or protective status. The intended goal is to link input and resources from all the stakeholders (Fed & State agencies, landownwers, municipalities, commercial enterprises etc) for their mutual benefit. One would think with all the hubbub about government inefficiency, this would be a no-brainer, but as usual, some seem bent on creating conspiracy theories.

As Al noted, the designation was jointly supported and sponsored by the MDC, the AGFC, Ducks Unlimited, and many others.

It seems to me that cooperation between MDC, AGFC, USACE, and private stakeholders prior to making policy decisions would be an improvement over what we've had. The Feds already have the authority to do "dam" near anything they want in this regard, so there's no new danger, and the designation allows more local public input into their actions.

I can't dance like I used to.
