AB, That's why I said if the Cocks have injuries, I think Spurrier is building a good team in SC myself.

Quill Its simple. In the BCS theme the one with the best record gets the big game and why ruin a record early facing a top team? Until the BCS makes each conference equal in number and each team plays only conference games it aint happening. BCS needs to do that then set up a play-off system leading up to the NC. Doubt that will happen ever though as Bowls = Big $$$.

I agree. Playing the powder puffs the first couple of games is just a waste of time and what does it really prove that you beat Our Little Sisters of the Blind 70-3? But if you lose any of those first couple games your chance at a BCS title is pretty much gone even if you go on to spread everyone in the SEC. I know this has been mentioned for YEARS about going to a playoff system for college football and I actually believe we will see it within the next 5 years. Will be hard to get away from all the bowls being like you said there is so much $ involved but from the stuff I have heard makes me think we honestly have a great shot at the playoff system soon.

Oh we get a playoff starting next year ( some what ) 4 team playoff for the NC. I havent seen the final format but would be willing to bet to maximize revenue it will be the top four in the nation 1v3 in the Rose and 2v4 in the Sugar. Problem is with automatic births a 8 and 4 theoritically could be in by automatice and a 9 and 3 could be out because they are not in one of the divisions with automatic births. Last I checked Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, SEC and Pac-12 were going to be given automatic births and that sucks and causes what i think is a JOKE of a playoff. It really needs to be the top at minimum the top 16 teams play for the chance at the NC. Play the best records get home 1st week eleminating it to 10 then play them in the Rose, Cotton, Feista and Orange bowl. Then play the top 4 team in the Cotton and one other stadium and the final 2 play for the NC. it only adds 3 more games and deals away with the 1month off before the NC which to me screws up the game.

I know the detractors are afraid of the SEC dominating it each year but I see that not as a detraction but forcing all the programs to strive to be better to compete. College Football is not a GAME it is a business and they need to run it just like pro-sports.

I find it funny fellow Arkies still think the Hogs should/can be perennial football power. Misguided armchair QBs...having a 10 win season every 8-10 years is about the best they can hope for. Maybe why Bear went to begin the building the greatest program ever.

Grandma gave me "fatback"...best crawdad bait I used.

I don't fault anyone in the SEC for scheduling early season wins. Loses in the early season don't get you ready and don't help you. A loss is a lose no matter who its to.

Why would Arkansas with a completely new program schedule losses in the first 4 games, does not make sense. I think their non con is just fine. Would not want it any harder. They will not beat Rutgers up there. I don't think it will even be close. That is a pretty good program, I don't care if we are SEC. You got a total new deal at Arkansas and a Rutgers team that is full of upper classmen and can flat play. Arkansas will have to put 35 on the board to beat them and unless there is a bunch of turnovers, I don't think that will happen.

The only SEC win that anyone in the know is posting is Auburn. Have not seen one service that thinks the Hogs will beat Ole Miss.

On the Recruiting class at aTm. Freshmen very seldom do much, I don't care who they are. I see losses for them. I think Arkansas will play them pretty close.

In keeping with the fish theme, Jaws were spitting crawdads this morning.

I work for the statewide daily newspaper ... as special sections manager for advertising these days .... but was a sports writer for 15 years. Still in close contact with our guys who cover the Hogs daily.

The consensus is that we hired the right man in Bielema, but for him to convert Petrino's "smoke and mirrors" offense to a power game won't happen overnight. It will take an entirely different type of player at a lot of positions to fit into this new scheme. Arkansas has struggled in the past to recruit the type of top-shelf talent ... beginning with the "big uglies" on the offensive and defensive lines ... necessary to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Alabama and LSU. Supposedly Bielema and the new staff are recruiting masterminds. We shall see.

The next couple of years for sure, a softer nonconference schedule could be just what is needed ... a chance to build some confidence before taking on the Bamas and Floridas of the world. SEC teams beat on each other enough during conference play. I don't begrudge any of them a cupcake or two early in the season.

Babler is right about Rutgers ... they will likely be more than the Hogs can handle. On the other hand, there's a lot of talent in Fayetteville. And after last year's debacle, they are hungry for leadership and reportedly have bought into Bielema's program bigtime.

Losing Petrino hurt and letting that clown John L. Smith take the reins multiplied it times 10. There was even dissension in the locker room, which will sink a team faster than anything. Those days are behind us, thank goodness. Now to rebuild.

I can see five wins but probably no more.

Nevertheless, Woo Pig Sooey!

Oh yeah, there's a heckuva shaky head bite going on. Go get bit.

Being a KU fan I'll pass on the college football, for obvious reasons, and wait until hoops season. Talk about reloading! :yaeh-am-not-durnk:

The only restriction in the '13 regs for chumming is specifically for trout.

It most certainly works, especially when planned so that current from generation takes the scent by a bunch of cats playin' cards or shootin' pool. If you're midlake, you don't consider the tiny current from generation to have much influence, but it certainly does.

I can't dance like I used to.
