Al, I'm not sure what your stance is on sharia law or how it relates to our state legislature??? could you expound???? I wouldn't think anyone would want to have sharia law apply to anything in the USA unless you insist foreign religious laws apply here.

Well, I'm pretty sure he was referring to the utterly unnecessary nature of banning Sharia law. You might as well ban standing on the ceiling upside down. Sure, it might be a problem if there was a chance it might occur, but in the absence of that, our legislators might as well spend their time working on things that might as some point effect someone's life between now and the end of time.

The state legislature passed a law that prohibited Sharia Law in Missouri. Now, nobody in this state except a half dozen radical Muslims wants Sharia Law, there ain't that many Muslims in MO, and the people of this state would never condone anybody practicing it. But mostly, you can't practice Sharia Law if it conflicts with laws already on the books in Missouri. So what was the point of this exercise, other than obvious grandstanding? It was a totally unnecessary waste of time. Plus, Gov. Nixon pointed out that it runs the risk of ticking off Muslim countries where we have adoption ties, possibly jeopardizing those ties.

I detest so-called Sharia Law. I detest many, many aspects of Islam. But this was ridiculous. There isn't any problem here that needed solving.
