Besides the noise, the only problem I had with a jet boat was when I was waist deep in the water and a boat flew by me withing 10 yards. I don't know river rules, but that one pissed me off.

You know now that I think about it, I would have a better understanding of your point of view if you took me out sometime :)

If you hear a jet coming...get the heck out of the channel..You can hear them coming well in advance.

Gavin's right, sometimes the only path for a jet is in the channel. But, there is no way I would buzz within 10 yards of someone who wouldn't move. Both people need to be understanding.

In the summer i start early and I am off the river about 11:00 am. So I avoid a lot of the joy riders and drunken swimmers.

Oh trust me... I WAS moving... You can only move so fast in waist deep water.

I never ever ever fish past 8:30 in the morning. Unless its storming. I've been in construction for years and usually can only hunt or fish when it's inclement weather. Turns out that's the best times to catch or kill. Bluebird skies I have zero luck on walleye on the meramec. I took a guy out yesterday evening and all we caught was bass he got a kick out of the whole river experience but if we could've fished till dark we might've hooked up with some toothy rascals. Put in at river round ran up to bruns bridge water 72 degrees 2 foot visibility. Up a couple feet still. I've lived within sight of the meramec for twenty years and to be honest I love the sound of the boats. Floaters and canoers should understand faster is better. I don't run up past caverns on weekends. Too many visitors. I will say that if river pros were the only boat on the river we would all be better off but some like the sound of open headers. Oh yeah I haven't said much about this new boat but I will now. Unfreakin believable! Everything about it.
