abkeenan Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I will also mention I have had no issues with them throwing the bait and losing fish. This was posted in another thread and thought I would post it again as the water tank test jika vs t-rig gives some perspective as to the different actions on the bait. Just skip to about 2 minutes into the video:
Gavin Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 A buddy of mine sent me this last week...looks like a cheaper way to make a jika rig.
abkeenan Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 A buddy of mine sent me this last week...looks like a cheaper way to make a jika rig. Nice video. Love to see other peoples take on stuff and coming up with their own ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Jason Essary Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 Ok, I will start testing some when fishing. We will see how it goes. More bites from movement is always worth a try. Thanks guys. Jerry Rapp Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I have not tried it yet, but from looking at the videos, it makes the bait look like it has a turkey beard. Not natural.
dtrs5kprs Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Think some of the "ho-hum" on this bait may come from trying to drag it like a FB jig or Biffle bug vs. using it as a tool to get down into thick stuff. Like straight down into it. As a drag bait it is more or less the same as a bug or FB.
inshore Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 use the jika a lot. I don't believe you hang up as much also great for swimming any plastics including swim baits. very seldom use t rig anymore.
Jerry Rapp Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 just put a similar size split shot about 3 inches in front of the bait. Glides around much better and doesn't look like a turkey beard. But you did not hear that from me.
Quillback Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Saw these on the BPS web site. Put a sinker on it and you have a sliding Jika rig. http://www.basspro.com/Team-Catfish-Sinker-Slides/product/1208170217/#
