Guest Brian B. Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 (Funny to read the last few- I have heard folks, -fishing buddies discuss fishing as a pro.. ?.---- seriously?.... And turn a beautiful religion into a crap-job?- here's your sign....) There's no. Quitting in fishing! LOL
KCRIVERRAT Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Technically, would you still kinda be "fishing" if you're standing at the edge of a pond snagging balls with your retriever? HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
Feathers and Fins Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Quitting hunting or fishing because of poachers is ridiculous. Might as well stop owning a house because there are thieves out there. Instead of sticking your head in the ground get out there and when you see these thieves and rapist of our resource get them on your phones video and turn them in. One thing is for certain MDOC along with all other DNR's is severely understaffed in the enforcement end. They need our help and the days of no tattling on others is over. You see someone breaking the law turn them in and then follow through with making sure something happened be it an investigation or even prosecution. When people start turning in these unsafe boaters and poachers with cell phone video it will start making a difference. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

Mark Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Here's my suggestion - someone post the phone numbers and email addresses of MDC agent, prosecutor, and sheriff of the county that this case will fall under it's jurisdiction. Everyone on here flood their offices with phone calls and emails. That's about all we can do. I am wondering why this criminal's identity is being protected on here. He needs to be outed and someone knows his name.
Kayser Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I was friends with someone that used to spear on some creeks, even some big smallmouth. I but my tongue and kindly educated him on how old those fish were, as well as how illegal it was to even possess an underwater spear on the banks of am unimpounded water. He promptly switched to rough fish in lakes, and I joined him a few times-even made my own Hawaiian sling. But my message to smalliebigs is this- getting disgusted and quitting means that the rest of us are going to have to pick up the slack. Additionally, I'm thinking phone-a-thon to the local mdc agent would be a good idea. Annoy them into taking action. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.

MOPanfisher Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I don't get the entire "Drive the Agents nuts with calls" thing. The agent is aware of it, and unless you have a fantastically bad agent in that county they would like nothing better than to catch him coming out of a creek with a pile of speared fish. Reality is prosecution from that photo would at best be problematic, however they now know who he is, likely what he drives and will be keeping an eye on him even via reports of others. Trust me agents don't like poachers and love to catch them, however it is difficult to actually catch them committing the act or with enough proof to take it to court.
