Sac River Jim Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Thank you Bill and RPS for sharing your knowledge of the lake. I will take Champs advice and save this report. When I think back over the years I was chasing the suspended fish in the Big M and Kings River areas since the 70's. Yes i agree the information that was shared on this thread is timeless.
Bill Babler Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 Thanks indeed RP. Wonderful information, that is for sure above and beyond the call. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
merc1997 Bo Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 lake levels also play a big factor into summer fishing above eagle rock. if we had lower lake levels of say around 908 to 910 there would be many actual river edges come into play. right now, the top of most of those structures do not reach as shallow as the bass want to get. another factor that i have noticed over the years is that when they are running water the bass tend to suspend in the channel a lot more, at least at night they do. i certainly wish our fine conservation department would actually do a fish sampling on the upper end. i can tell you that back in the 80's the upper end had tremendous population of bass. you could see hundreds of hooks in one small area on a paper graph. now, you can look all day and almost count the hooks on your two hands. one of the main problems that there is never a decent spawn is because of all the cold water coming out of beaver to keep the trout alive. i have seen the water temps drop from 65 to 50 in a matter of hours. that does not bode well for any spawning success. bo
Duck Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 There are NO fish above the mouth of the Kings, repeat, there are NO fish above the mouth of the Kings. Save your time and fish the Aunts and the James. Good Luck, Duck.
Members Whit Warriors Posted July 7, 2013 Members Posted July 7, 2013 I read this post and went yesterday targeting docks close to deep water and the advice was spot on. Had several keeper LM and Eyes. Spoons and single tail smoke grubs was the ticket. Caught several LM and Spots on top water spooks. Great AM on TR... Right up until the madness began. Headed home to fry up fresh walleye!!! Whit
fishingaddiction Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Thanks Bill and RPS, great information for summer time. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Members AAD Posted June 5, 2014 Members Posted June 5, 2014 I came across this gem of a report from Bill from last July. It may be the most thorough report covering all areas of TRL I have seen. Even tho the bite seems to be behind "normal" patterns this year, it is still a great read for those with very few trips to the lake. As the water temps continue to rise, there are some great things in this report to keep in mind.
Quillback Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 A good one to bring back to life, which reminds me that I need to dig my Cabelas spoons out of storage.
Members danop69 Posted June 6, 2014 Members Posted June 6, 2014 That is some really good stuff Bill. Thanks for taking the time to post some great info.
