nomolites Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I have pulled some toads out of the walk ins in years past on white buzz baits. Have not been out there fishing recently. Wear DEET!
Smallie Seeker Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 No decent sized bass on 35 for me either this year. Caught 10 or so 12"-16" bass yesterday, most coming on a super spook jr. But nothing like it's been in previous years. I've had better luck on 33 for bass this yr. Where did the fat girls go?
mjk86 Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I really have no idea!?! Maybe a bad spawn a few years ago? I remember in 2009 and 2010 I caught several fish over 20 inches. Still lots of dinks, but seemed like I could count on catching at least 1 toad per trip. The last few years havent been nearly as good with the big bass....but then again ive been targeting crappie mostly, but I still caught a few nice ones a year. I wish we could keep some of those 12" fish...I feel like there is an overpopulation of them, even with all the forage.
WHARFRAT Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Yeah I never understood why they don't have some sort of slot limit on some of the lakes @ Busch. @lozcrappie Â
stlfisher Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 There are many lakes that have an overabundance of bass....the C/R lakes come to mind. the first few years they were opened I caught several nice bass, but since then they are mostly 12 inch cookie cutter's. Would thinks some harvest would be beneficial, but don't overlook the Bluegill fishing...there are some giants that can be caught and super fun on lightweight tackle.
Smallie Seeker Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Been catching some decent bass at Busch lately. This one was from 33 this morning. Having good luck with crank baits, spinnerbaits, and beaver tail soft plastics.

Haris122 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 That right there is time well spent driving out to St. Charles.
Mitch f Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 So Busch has a 2 fish 15" limit on bass, and on certain lakes like 33, a one fish 18" limit. I don't think I've ever seen anyone (except for Smallie Seeker) abide by those rules. But, if you are a little savvy, you can catch some nice fish there.
