I wouldn't normally do this in an open public forum but, since my initial allegations were made in that setting, I thought my apology should come from that setting as well.

I recently made an allegation of Chiefgreybear to be a catch a keep fisherman of Smallmouth bass and not only is that very far from the truth and very childish on my part, it was the wrong thing to do if I wasn't in front of a man's face.

Chief, I would like to say I'm sorry and I have no real excuses for my behavior that are acceptable amongst friends, which I thought we were.

Chief and I have talked as friends many times in the past and I can assure you not only is he a huge advocate of preserving the most precious native fish to the Ozarks he has recently written a very cool article in MSA newsletter about the Neosho strain smallies, that is a great read. He has joined with the MSA to help post signs that bring awareness to the public that use our streams of the slow growth rates of Smallmouth bass, which magnifies the other factors against smallies....ie. bad land usage or stream degradation, poaching and environmental factors....the slow growth rates just adds fire to the fuel when combined with all of the other factors involved. It's a tough concept to sell to the general public on a small sign at a public access point.

So I would like to say what I do know of Chief, is not only is he NOT a catch and keep fisherman of Smallmouth bass he is a true advocate of everything outdoors in Missouri from hunting to fishing and has been passing down the tradition of being a true steward of the land to his son....which I think is very cool.

He also is an encyclopedia of the Southwestern Missouri streams.....tons of knowledge there....very impressive.

So, I will say it again Chief, sorry.......I can be a clown sometimes.

Yeah he don't keep smallies.

He does make an awesome Bald Eagle Fettuccine though.

You think that is good you should try his Spotted Owl Meatloaf.

Smalliebigs,

That is the manly behavior I try to teach. My respect, sir.

I really don't think anyone keeps smallies any more, they are full of worms.

I graciously and humbly accept you very respectful and heartfelt apology.

I too would like to take this opportunity to also offer my apology as what I did to you in the public was not very mature. Sometimes I just shoot from the hip and don't think things out.

I am ready to move on and continue to work with you, and others, for the fight to protect all of our natural resources, namely our unimpounded waterways and those that call them home here in Missouri. If all of us just spent 10% of our time working for conservation of our favorite resource that we do using the same resource, we could pass along something really special to the next generation.

Thank you Scott. You have now shown your true character that I always respected.

So. All that stuff about smallmouth omelets I should just write down as some sort of a joke? After I tried to find and duplicate the recipe using spotted bass instead? Not very darn funny if you ask me.
