Feathers and Fins Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Well I suppose to stop cattle and people from peeing in the water we could introduce a few CandirĂº https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Old plug Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 When i floated it was very rare to see stock in the river. Maybe they come down at tines to drink i do not know. I can tell you though the idea of making live stick in the river free game would never happen. I have seen all kinds if animals in the rivers bathing going to the toilet. Etc including human animals. How do you justify that would be the argument you would encounter. Such a argument could lead to all kinds of unpredictable results. For one there would be a nightmare of water rights issues. Then again it would be no real problem to line the bank with electric fence and start pumping water out of the river to fill watering ponds.
fishinwrench Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 They'd be replacing that fence 5 times per year. LOL
Justin Spencer Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Well I suppose to stop cattle and people from peeing in the water we could introduce a few CandirĂº Neither would be smart enough to know what was causing that burning sensation! Wayne SW/MO Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I agree. Maybe that's the missing part of that rustling story up there ^^^ I also agree. They beat down the banks and cause lots of damage when the rivers flood. they're worse than jetboats. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Flysmallie Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I also agree. They beat down the banks and cause lots of damage when the rivers flood. they're worse than jetboats. Remember those cow pie covered gravel bars below Galena. That was disgusting. Â Â
Members Woodland Artisan Posted September 9, 2013 Members Posted September 9, 2013 How about a jon boat? Dad and I put a calf in ours on the Elk about 30 years ago. We were fishing and came upon a calf stuck half way down a high embankment. It was being pelted with rocks and beer cans by the floaters up ahead of us until we got to yelling at them. Anyway, we got the calf un-stuck and put into the boat and went downstream a bit where we could get it out and back up into the field. Never have been back to the Elk. Too much trouble with the rec crowd to make it worth it. Ive seen a hog in the back seat of a Lincoln, and a goat in the seat of an old truck.Ive never seen a cow in a canoe. That would be fun to watch drunk or sober.
Old plug Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I figured they wood wrench.but god knows what could happen with water rights. I sure would not like any of you getting your kiakaks and canoes blown out of the water buy some sniper 400 yards away with a silencer. I keep waiting for sonething like tgat to happen on LOZ .Shooting boats was something that occured around here a few years back.
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Old Plug the silenced rifle is a TV/movie myth. You can't muffle the crack of a rifle bullet. If a sniper was to appear on a weekend on LOZ it would probably make it safer, scare the drunks off. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members wayne b Posted September 9, 2013 Members Posted September 9, 2013 I was actually one of the cops that had to deal with the calf beinging loaded in the canoe. The three men that were attempting to load the calf were very drunk. and had actually walked thru the farmers hay field to the barn lot and led the calf back to the river (the calf was the farmers kids 4h project so it was broke to lead on a rope). When I got there it was not a plesant scene to say the least. The drunks had actually dropped the calf off of a cut bank and broke one of its front legs. To make a long story short the calf was put down the drunks arrested and charged successful I might add for theft of livestock. the farmer also sued the pants off of all threre men I think that calf cost them around 25 to 30 thousand dollars.
