Bill B. Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I read that the power company was going to open the flood gates at Bagnell this morning (Aug. 7).
Old plug Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 They need to be careful with that. It is real easy for LOZ and Truman to contribute to down stream flooding. I would say right now it would be very very easy.
Jerry Rapp Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 LOZ is NOT a flood control lake. Never has been. When it gets full the water has to go out.
Seth Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I wonder what this will do for the fishing at the dam? We had plans to go fishing somewhere this weekend but everything is all jacked up from all of this rain. I've only fished with the gates open one time and we caught a few blues but nothing special.
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 LOZ is NOT a flood control lake. Never has been. When it gets full the water has to go out. Right, but I'm surprised they aren't holding back Truman and if this is all local water it seems like a lot for what feeds LOZ? Obviously I'm just speculating. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Bird Watcher Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Right, but I'm surprised they aren't holding back Truman and if this is all local water it seems like a lot for what feeds LOZ? Obviously I'm just speculating. They pretty much are holding Truman. The 3 day forecast hasn't been updated Today, but Yesterday they were projecting 0 release for Thursday and Friday, only 5K on Saturday. We'll see what it says Today when it gets updated.
laker67 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 660.8 is the current lake level. Another .2 and it will be over the neighbors seawall and ramp and into the yard. Tons of more rain coming tonight and into tommorrow for loz and 50 miles south.
fishinwrench Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Looking good up this way Get out and fish those breeched seawalls and weed edges cuz this bite doesn't happen near often enough. Alot more fun than the typical 22+ ft. August brushpile bite. There's a bunch of eating sized channel cat in the backends of the coves too. I caught a good mess in 4 hours yesterday evening and never even had to change spots.
