Smalliebigs Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Well, I had my chance to pretend I was a guide for my family this last extended weekend at the Rock 08/15 to 08/19. Beeing a guide is not easy, It was down right hard and stressful taking my family out. To all the guides that do this for a living fulltime, you are working hard my friends. I had my nephew, my brother in law,my wife and my mom in the boat at different times. I was hard keeping them in the right spot and dealing with their snags and their tangles and birdsnest..their bitch about the wind, they were too cold....why they couldn't use a lure like I was using....they were killing me Table rock is simply a beautiful lake, the terrain surrounding the shore all looks good, at least 98% of it, and then you look at the sonar images and it seems like there would be fish everywhere literally. It freaks me out because that is obviously not the case. The air temps were very nice for August, water temps were 78 at the surface the whole time I was there. I lucked out and was able to find two areas that had a lot of fish but, none were big....all were between 12 to 15 inches. We caught a hand full of 15 to 16 inchers but we did catch quite a few fish....mostly smallies. I started at a area in the Beardsley Branch area where there is some old roads by the island. we did good there on soft plastics but, the bite was so very subtle and you would only get bit 25 to 35 ft. My family took a bit to get used to this but once they did they did well. We also fished in area of all places, North Indian Creek about 3/4 of the way back in the cove on the left side is a small cove that had a dock, you could see the roller coaster at Silver Dollar city. Well, my wife and brother in law just tore them up around that dock and cove....my wife says her new favorite lure is the Ned rig....changed over from a purple plastic worm...lol I kept them on fish all weekend but no big ones though....everyone went home safe and happy. Table Rock is soooo sweet. I was lucky to find the fish I did, the bite was very subtle and these folks were not able to get bit on top. I lost a couple of very nice fish in the evening on top across from Coombs Ferry on main lake points after the boat traffic stoped. these fish were just slurping the back hook in... very wild....thought they were white bass but when you big bronze bass.....oh, how I love the Rock .....you guides have a tough deal Jake caught some smalliesmy wife was a fishing fool this time out...I think it was the weather
Quillback Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Looks like a great time, considering it's mid-August you done good.
rps Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Really well done, but you have created a monster. Next time they will expect to catch fish.
denjac Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Nice job! About that small cove back by sdc. That's private property, you can't fish in there anymore! Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. MOsmallies Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Nicely done Scott! Looks like you guys had a great time and were finally able to get the SeaArk wet.
Smalliebigs Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Yeah I know.....it was fun and I know I sound like whine and cheese but, I'm used to fishing with my buddies.....where they do their thing and I do mine and we just kick it......no knot tying or lure selections.....it was very tough to keep them in place on the main lake spots with the boat traffic....we had two Bajas buzz with in 20yards of us and just about swamp us.....LOOSERS!!!! with small penis syndrome. The best part is my daughter Emily and my nephew Mason are becoming fishing freaks.....these two would have sat on the front of my boat and fished all day long I think.....memories to cherish for them and me Really well done, but you have created a monster. Next time they will expect to catch fish.
