When I first started bass fishing, it was a 7" power worm,..pumpkinseed for clear water red shad for stained.

Later on a bagley killer b1, then an Eakins Jig and craw,..right now, it 's a shakey head rigged trick worm.

As a kid it was a Roadrunner.

Wait, I was suppose to pick one.

I bet we would be amazed regarding what constitues a bait becoming your confidence bait. I bet one memorable fish is all it takes! Maybe it was just a super aggressive, hungry, big fish and would've eaten a Budweiser beer can lure if placed squarely in its face.

3 1/2" silver and black Rapala, floating...

Something similar, a black and silver jointed Rebel. But I was living in Massachusetts at the time. Nowadays if the chips are really down, I'll break out a Zoom Trick worm.

My first confidence bait was a BPS squirmin shad on a 1/8 jighead (both 2" and 3"). I had a whole tackle box just for the darn things. That was just 5 years ago and now I rarely throw them. Like Mitch said, it was a great day when I first started fishing that got me hooked to my first confidence bait.

My confidence bait now is definetly a senko (baby bass color) ... The Eakins jig (black and blue with a paca craw trailer) is a close second.

I was nit thinking of that wrench when i posted but I must say those got to be right at the top of all time fish catching lures.

Lake lure, the old large cigar-brown metal lipped Bomber; I still know the catalog number, # 623.

Bingo

And here's the real scarey part. Back when I used to fish TR a couple times a month, that lure was priced at 69 cents in what was the first BPS store, in a part of one of the Brown Derby Liquor stores.

A guy that owned a resort at TR was always having me get a few dozen of them, and once two gross of them, for him on my way thru Springfield headed to TR.

When I was a kid and the Rapala hit uptown small town they were $25 apiece. For reference O got $5.50 a week for for a paper route and 50 cents for an 18 hole caddy.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
