abkeenan
This time of year where is the best place to find crappie and best baits to catch them with? Lay downs and cedars. Bait of choice this time of year is dynamite on a #2 size hook.
Bill Babler
That crappie question always scares the bejeezers out of me. Docks are a possibility also, but be prepared for disappointment. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
aarchdale@coresleep.com
Up the James we caught a few on our normal spring brush piles. Couple keeps and a few shorts. Summer is a little tough with crappie. We always had good luck slowly drifting minnows down the bluff across from bridge port in the summer. Lots of timber down that bluff most of it is submerged now

If God forbid I was going to try it, I would take this advice to heart. Thanks for posting. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Champ188
Going after crappie in a clear, highland reservoir is not normally a recipe for success. Summer is especially tough because crappie are known to follow the baitfish way out offshore and suspend, much like spotted bass. Trolling with crank baits like a Bandit 300 series can be productive in places like the James or Kings river arms.
Feathers and Fins
The crappie are doing and have been exactly what Champ has stated, I have had great success all summer catching them but it is with specialized methods ( deep trolling ) and that is covering many miles a day. The best formula has been #5, 6, 7 Flickershad trolled at 22 to 35 fow targeting open water bait schools. Average is 1 crappie for every half mile trolled and 1 mile for each keeper sized crappie. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
